I absolutely love making homemade meals. Everything about it… the lower cost to take out, the knowledge that I know what is in the food and the love of seeing my kids enjoy something I made are all benefits. Lack of time is my major hold back. I simply do not have more than about 30 minutes a night to throw a meal together. So I turn to my slow cooker a LOT. Many times a week I throw some things in it in the morning and serve it up in the evening. One of my favorite recipes to throw in the slow cooker is my Slow Cooker Sausage, Green Beans and Potatoes Recipe. It is totally delicious, totally affordable and totally a family favorite! I attribute the delicious taste to using quality ingredients, like Hillshire Farm® Smoked Sausage. It is a brand I like because it is full of flavor, adds a hint of smokiness to any dish and adds a protein many of us may forget about!
Like my Slow Cooker Sausage, White Bean and Spinach Soup, anything I make with Hillshire Farm sausage is just better. It really makes a meal pop, no matter which variety you use! So purchasing several links at Walmart to throw in the slow cooker with a variety of ingredients is really just smart. Plus, it make my homemade meals really homemade with its slow cooked flavor. My kids and I like it just as is or in any dish!
So, let’s get started on this super simple recipe!
- 1 Package of Hillshire Farm® Smoked Sausage
- 1 bag of red potatoes
- 4 Cans of Green Beans
- 1 Small Onion, diced
- No salt seasoning
- 2 cups chicken broth
- Wash and cut the red potatoes into bite sized chunks. Add the diced onion, then the sliced sausage, then the green beans. Dust the top with the salt free seasoning. Add 2 cups of chicken broth. Cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 8 hours and serve.
The no salt seasoning is in the seasoning aisle at Walmart. I like it because it has great flavor without the added sodium. I also add a lot of pepper to this dish to season it. If you season in the slow cooker and it is not enough, just add some more to your bowl!
You can get more great Hillshire Farm recipes on their website. Use sausage in breakfast, lunch and dinner for a different spin on meal time too!
We all want to do it all. We want to make the best meals that our entire family, kids too, will love and eat, we want to spend time with our families and we want to get the laundry off the couch so we can relax every once in a while. By using my slow cooker, I at least get to limit my prep and cooking time to allow more time for the things I really want to do!
