Clearly, as the author and shameless promoter of this blog, I believe A Day in Motherhood is always a day to celebrate. Because whether we are tending to sick kids, changing diapers, making the 10th snack of the day or just holding our children and inhaling every moment of childhood, we are busy, selfless and in love with the job.
But at least once a year, we get celebrated for all we do too. We get to have our coffee made, our backs scratched and smiles all about how much we are appreciated. This year, both my neighbor and I are single moms. So unless our ex’s make something happen, we are relishing in the simple celebration of spending the days with our kids.
But my neighbor is more deserving than I for some celebration and pampering. Not only does she take care of her two boys, but her father and her brother live with her too. And every night she still comes home and makes dinner, helps her boys with homework, takes care of her dad and takes care of three dogs. She is also a stellar friend, the caregiver to her ailing grandmother and a spirit that is refreshing to be around through it all! I wish I could buy her a vacation and send her on it just so she would sit down!
