The cool mom experience is a great one. I got to be the best when I stole my kids from school and took them to Galveston, TX for a two day trip topped off with a visit to Moody Gardens for the new Spongebob Subpants Exhibit! But before we checked into the hotel at Moody Gardens and before we saw an amazing show, we spent the day at Schlitterbahn Water Park! We had the BEST TIME EVER!! Like, the best time!
I entered the park a little apprehensively. How was I, a single mom with three very active kids, one of whom is still a little scared to swim, going to keep up with them all? But once I learned that there are no rides or pools deeper than 3 feet and that there are lifeguards everywhere, often 3 to an attraction, I relaxed. Not that they prevented my two oldest from swimming right into the current and having to be brought back by a helpful teen, but I felt better!
Aside from having to talk to them again once that happened, we have the most amazing, awesome, fun, exhilarating, family bonding time I have ever had! I am seriously considering season tickets after this experience!
With water activities that range from kiddie slides to surfing to family slides, we were busy all day. My little one is sometimes still afraid of the water if it is over her head. So we put her in a free inner tube and coasted around the park on the ‘river’. As you go, you can choose heavy waves or not and exit at different beach areas to ride the slides. She got comfortable quickly and soon took to loving the highest slides!
Even my oldest, who resisted the tallest family slide until the very end due to a slight fear of heights, gave in and rode the waves all the way to the bottom. Add to the fun great snacks, a gift shop where they all got their souvenirs, great shaded areas to leave your things and relax and more, Schlitterbahn Galveston was a perfect getaway!
I was totally surprised by how much fun this park was! I didn’t even want to leave as we closed the park! It was incredibly fun to go from ride to ride laughing and playing along the way!
Gather your kids and head to Schlitterbahn in Galveston, TX! You will have a blast too!
