This article about how to pack better lunches for our planet is brought to you by Tetra Pak. All opinions are my own. #TetraPakBTS #ad
Every day or so I pack my kid’s lunches. On any given day, the packaging comes home with them too. I go through the lunchboxes, toss out what I need to and start over the next day. Every time I wonder if there is a better alternative to the packaging we use. I wonder so much so that I am starting to learn a little more about packing and how it can help me pack better lunches for my kids. Not only better food items, like Ella’s Kitchen juices and RETHINK Water, but better packaging that helps me pack better lunches for our planet like items in Tetra Pak cartons.
If you ever pick up a carton or package of something at the store, you will notice all kinds of symbols and markings on them. While we all go to the ingredients panel, it is also important to see what the packaging is. Is it recyclable? Is it safe for kids? Will the items inside taste exactly as the creator intended?
Packaging has a lot to do with the quality of foods as well as the preservation of the ingredients. If you take a moment to learn about the packaging, it becomes more important in the choices you make for your family.
For instance, Tetra Pak has developed a range of packages to protect both the nutritional value and the taste of the products inside. Thanks to Tetra Pak technology, the packaging and distribution of liquid and food products to the consumer has been greatly facilitated. What does that mean for us? It means that while packing our back to school lunches we can feel good about what holds our kids food and drink!
Food & beverage packaged in Tetra Pak cartons are:
- Light weight and space efficient—they even fold flat for the trip back to the recycling bin.
- No refrigeration necessary until after they’re opened, saving valuable cooler space (the single-serve milk is perfect for pancakes!).
- Easy to open—no can opener or other tools necessary making the load a little lighter!
- Safe for all ages —no sharp edges or risk of broken glass.
- Cartons are recyclable and mainly made from paper, a renewable natural resourcethat can be replenished.
- With multiple layers of protection built into every package, Tetra Pak cartons preserve the quality, taste, and nutrients without the need for added preservatives.
Some of the products you already purchase for your kid’s lunches are already in Tetra Pak containers. Ella’s Kitchen is a very popular brand that is a favorite of mine and many of my ‘mom friends’. With fun smoothies like their Amaaazing Apple + Zucchini Smoothie Drink and Strawberry + Lemonade Aloe Water Drink, every kid can find something they like! Since they are already packed in Tetra Pak cartons, we, as moms, can feel good about knowing they are preserved and easy to use!
Another great product packed in Tetra Pak? Bossi Organic Kids Tea! Now Megan, my youngest, LOVES tea. I won’t let her have it, of course, or at least not much of it. But Bossi lets her have her tea and drink it too! It is caffeine free and has fruit flavor that makes it even better!
Finally, one of my favorite items is RETHINK Water! For ever we have used plastic water bottles. They are not great to use but, other than reusable bottles that are expensive and constantly lost, I have had little alternative. Packed in Tetra Pak cartons, RETHINK Water is my new go-to for lunch boxes, field trips and car rides!
As a mom I have to worry about so many things. But if I take just a moment to look for the Tetra Pak seal on all of my kid’s favorite back to school lunch box items, I can pack them with one less thing to worry about!
When was the last time you looked at the packaging in your kid’s lunch box?
