As a mom constantly trying to make better meals for my kids, I like appliances that do more than one thing. I also like appliances that make my life easier. If you ask people who know me, I can not cook rice to save my life on the stove. I have purchased over the years, cookers that have not really helped. I either forget about it and end up with mush or watch it like a hawk and end up with hard kernels. The Frigidaire Professional® Rice Cooker has finally made me a rice cooking genius! I don’t know what it is, but when I put the rice in, set the timer and then choose between hard, medium and soft textures, it comes out exactly the way it is supposed to!
But another feature I really love is the timer! I can put my oatmeal in the night before and set the timer. I then wake up to a delicious bowl of oatmeal that is ready and perfect when I get up. This is FANTASTIC for those busy school mornings when the kids need a hot meal but I am running short on time! I love making my oatmeal with a fried egg and some spicy guacamole on top. The yolk of the egg creams the oatmeal and the guacamole adds flavor eliminating the need for salt, pepper, butter or cream!
Another favorite feature is the cooker’s ability to steam! When I make my Veggie Rice recipe, I add the rice to the bottom of the cooker and the veggies in the steamer tray and they cook together. The recipe is super easy. Just add rice to your cooker according to the instructions. In the steam basket, put corn, carrots and broccoli (or any other veggie you like). Cook them together for about 50 minutes and then mix and fluff! The rice comes out perfectly, the veggies come out crunchy but soft and the flavors infuse into a wonderful side dish! Add chicken to it for a healthier dinner too!
With the New Year upon us and the motivation to get healthier, the Frigidaire Professional® Rice Cooker can make a huge difference. The Tahdig feature which allows you to have crisp rice in your dishes, helps you get that ‘fried’ taste without the oil!
