Before I start this post I want you to know that within 2 hours of getting this product home from the store, my girls had opened and consumed one for each! To say that Dannon® Danimals® Smoothies are a favorite in this house is an understatement. I can not remember a time when I did not have these in my fridge. They are easy for kids to drink, easy for them to carry and a yogurt snack I do not mind them having. I do have to ration, I won’t lie… my kids will drink a 12 pack in a day if I let them! Because these are such awesome on-the-go options to fuel my kids adventures all day long, I love to include them in fun semi-Bento boxes during the school year!

Why semi-Bento boxes? Because I lack the creativity to create a full on Bento box! I have no imagination, and by imagination, I mean patience, to create animals, landscapes and intricate boxes. I am a mom of three after all. I love to send my kids to school with something awesome but I would rather it be what is in the boxes rather than how it looks!

So, being a mother who is admittedly semi-lazy, I am planning my semi-Bento boxes for the first week of school. I must include things I know they will actually eat and drink or it serves no purpose. I will find it in their lunch box when they get home and see the charge on the credit card for a school lunch. So while at Walmart the other day, I picked up 12 pack of Dannon® Danimals® Smoothies Strawberry and Cotton Candy  – which are limited edition flavors at Walmart now! – in the Play 60 specially marked package and a 12 pack of Dannon® Danimals® Watermelon and Strawberry Smoothies.

I was curious as to the cool bottles and marking of the Play 60 packaging so I stopped and read all about it in the store! The Play 60 contest is  easy and fun!  If you find the “Golden Bongo” bottle (located in specially marked packages) you can win a Play 60 Field Day for your school with NFL pros! Find out more on the website linked above. I don’t know about you, but my kids and I are huge NFL fans and we would all FLIP if we found the Golden Bongo!

Now back to my semi- Bento boxes. I, as any mom would, love to support my kids in any adventure they take. So packing them a nice lunch with things they will eat is a must. I love adding Dannon® Danimals® to their lunch because it  provides “Only the Good Stuff®”! With no high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors, as well as providing a good source of calcium and vitamin D, I am happy to let me kids enjoy it in school, as an after school snack and even on-the-go!

My semi-Bento boxed have a basic pattern I follow. It includes a sandwich or wrap, fruit creatively styled, a veggie, some protein, like hard boiled eggs, a Dannon® Danimals® and a small water. The sandwich my oldest loves is an owl. It is so easy to make. Just make the sandwich, mine likes cheese only, de-crust the sandwich and cut the top into a curve to make the ears! Add grape eyes and an angled crust for the nose and you are done!

For the eggs, I use grape halves for the eyes and a sliver of carrot for the nose and lay the little owl on a bed of carrots! The fruit I love to make into easy skewers! Just use cookie cutters to make watermelon and grape look fun for lunch time.

Add your Dannon® Danimals® and your small water and wala, a semi-Bento box lunch is ready for back to school!

I think that exercise and fun are imperative for my kids all year long! So just as I encourage them to put good things into their bodies, I also want them to run and play and enjoy the outside too! So the Play 60 program is an awesome one in my opinion. Get your kids out to play at least 60 minutes a day and then have a fun Dannon® Danimals® snack ready for them to enjoy! Be sure to look for the Golden Bongo only in specially marked boxes to WIN as well!
