Back in May, I attended the Conversations with Cola Cola Conference in Atlanta, GA. I had a wonderful time and walked away from it thinking of Coke as a company concerned with community instead of a big company that is too big to care.
And the program I was most excited to hear about and could not wait to come home and tell all of my neighbors about is the America is Your Park program! As part of their Live Positively Initiative, Coca Cola wants to help clean up and revamp parks!
Through the third-annual America Is Your Park campaign, people can vote for their favorite park to win the coveted title of “America’s Favorite Park.” Also at stake is a $100,000 recreation grant from the Coca-Cola Live Positively initiative. Just imagine what $100,000 could do for one of your area parks—it could mean new swing sets for your kids or perhaps a refurbished running trail for you.
And, here is something really great – more than one park will win! Second- and third-place parks will receive grants. Also, a $15,000 grant will be awarded, at random, to a lucky park that comes in 4th to 25th on the leader board by the end of the contest. These recreation grants are provided to help restore, rebuild or enhance activity areas in parks where people can play and be active.
Do you have a park in your area that could use a face lift, or even a total redo? We have three in our neighborhood and they are all in need of something! Our parks have no or old equipment, beat up picnic tables and even our bridge to the duck pond park is a little rickety.
Here is what you do to vote for YOUR park:
– Go to LivePositively.com/parks
– Choose the way you want to vote for your favorite park, online or through FourSquare
– Enter the information to find your park
– Vote and then share with your family, friends and anyone else on Facebook
Talk to your neighbors, family, friends and ask them to vote as well! Because there are multiple winners in this campaign, you really can win a revamp!
The campaign ends July 15, 2012! So you have a few weeks to hit the ground running and enter your parks!
And because I feel so strongly in Coca Cola’s Live Positively message and the America is Your Park campaign, I want to reward one of my readers with a Coca Cola Badminton just for entering and voting for your park. If you don’t have a park, vote for mine! Our neighborhood parks are not on there but you can vote for Klebb Woods Park under zip code 77377 :)
Just enter using the Rafflecopter form below!
**I received a Coca Cola Parks pack as a thank you for posting about this program. All writings and opinions are my own. Please see my Disclaimers Page for more information.**
