I was provided a free trial of the Jenny Craig program and meals. However, the opinions expressed are entirely my own.

**Results not typical. Members following our program can expect to lose, on average 1-2 lbs per week. I received promotional consideration.

Eight weeks ago I was approached to give Jenny Craig a try. Overweight but not obese, I was honestly apprehensive. Other ‘diets’ had failed or succeeded and then failed when I stopped them. But I said yes because these pounds were not coming off. I wanted to look better, feel better and be a better person who was not constantly feeling guilty when I ate something that was not a carrot.

Jenny Craig turned out to be a great surprise. Despite my hesitation, I can say that it is a solid program with a lot to offer. In 8 weeks, I am down 12 pounds**. They seem to be staying off, give or take a pound or two. Now, I will say, my before and after photo does not look that different but the feeling I have in my clothing, the energy I have and the confidence I have with my new found success can be seen by anyone who knows me! I have a desire to keep it up. To live a healthier lifestyle and to improve myself in a way that shows more than in a number on a scale.

Within the 8 weeks, I have learned so much. I thought I would share my lessons so that you can see that Jenny Craig is less about weight and more about lifestyle changes that enhance your life.

It IS about retraining your habits: Gone are the days of no breakfast and binge eating at bedtime. You can’t do that on Jenny Craig. In fact, what you hear is true. Food IS the main component when you want to lose weight and keep it off. But habits are hard to break. In fact, even 8 weeks in, I still struggle trying to eat as much as Jenny Craig wants me to. But with every meal, I learn that regularly scheduled, healthy meals, along with the variety the new foods to keep my taste buds happy, is the main component to weight loss. With Jenny Craig I learned that my body needs fuel all day, everyday. In the 8 weeks, I have learned that. So much so that my body has been retrained to crave nourishment all day long.

Exercise is actually fun: Though I played tennis once or twice a week, I was not that active. When a friend told me about CrossFit, I laughed. There was no way I was going to be able to do that much less, like it. I was so wrong that I now eat my words! Exercise has become a part of the daily routine now. I, literally, get up, get some work done, get my kids ready for school and then head out the door to CrossFit or tennis. The days I don’t go I miss it. Exercise has become fun and I credit the energy Jenny Craig gave me and the support of Carrie, my Jenny Everywhere consultant, for giving me the inspiration to get it done!

The excuses are just excuses: I wrote about common excuses we have when trying to live a healthier lifestyle a few weeks ago. The truth is, if we can excuse it, we do. Not because we are lazy or have no desire to be healthy. But because we are so busy, so preoccupied and so easily distracted that we think the excuses matter. I have learned that excuses can be – well, excused – and you can stay on track with Jenny Craig.

‘Diet’ food does not suck: I have been more than impressed with the choice of food from Jenny Craig. They have all new items that make meal and snack time a fun time again. Some food I have tried has not been all that great on other plans, but I am impressed that, 8 weeks in, I still love to open my package and eat! Check out all of their foods and enjoy success with flavor!

I actually can do it!: I am a firm believer that we tend to sabotage our own success by the words in our head. When I started this journey I had to change the dialogue. Guess what? That was harder than eating right and exercising. But each day I made a commitment to me and, after a little while, the dialogue did change. I actually CAN do it! Not only can I do it, but I can do it WELL! I can eat right, exercise and have more energy. I credit Jenny Craig for putting me on the right track!

Take come time to learn about Jenny Craig and see what the constant support and plan can do for you!
