I think we all have New Year’s Resolutions. Some revolve around spending more time with family, some are financial and some are getting healthier and losing weight. But no matter what they are, they can be impossible to stick to unless you have some help along the way. In this day and age if you can not afford a personal trainer or someone over your shoulder telling you to put the donuts down – I sure can’t – you can at least download a useful app on your smart phone and utilize it to stay #HappyHealthy and on track!
One of my favorite apps is the Walgreens App! I have written about it before and continue to use it almost on a weekly basis. Not only can I avoid a trip out with three kids that are hot and cold on their tolerance to run errands by ordering things on my phone to be delivered at home, I can refill prescriptions, keep a weekly shopping list, use coupons from the app and so much more!
In this New Year, my resolutions are simple. Organize and upkeep my life, get healthier – dragging my kids along for the ride – and be prepared for almost anything that can hit this house and take us out for a week or more. Such as the infamous family cold. Something I was not prepared for a month ago when we all sat miserable as I was digging through expired medications trying to find something to give my poor kids and their drippy noses!
With the Walgreens App and the awesome new Balanced Rewards program – LOVE this program! – I can at least tackle getting and staying organized a little easier! And it even helps me stay healthier by allowing me to order and track things that I may forget about in the insanity of my daily life.

I have no current prescriptions – this is what I call the sweet spot in the year, also known as the calm before the typical prescription filled season where illnesses from school are brought home and endured – but I love that I can refill from the app, track my prescription history and even keep my kids vaccines in check on the scheduler. There is even a pill reminder to help me keep track of the doses per child – or my – medication schedule. As we moms know, when you have a house full of sickies it is hard to remember who got what when. This is a GREAT feature for your parent who might be living with you or has a hard time tracking when they last took their blood pressure medication!
To try to get healthier I decided to browse the items on the app through the Shop feature! I found everything from diet pills to diet equipment to meal replacement, energy boosting and waist slimming items that can help me stay on my weight loss and healthy kick longer than on my own. I ordered some yummy chocolate bars and some multivitamins from the app and am awaiting my order as we speak. In the past it has taken about three days.
But in the meantime, I needed to make a trip to Walgreens too. My middle daughter sneezed and I realized that I had used all of the preventatives and comfort items for sick kiddies last month when they all came down with the ick. So, motivated to not be caught empty handed -thus staying with my New Year’s Resolution to be prepared – we headed to Walgreens for a mini stock up trip!
While there I was reminded just how beneficial the Balanced Rewards program is. Basically, you purchase certain items and earn points. Those points translate to savings at check out. So, I spent about $53 on chest rub, tissue, fever reducing medications and more and saved 7% or over $3 on just that order! Just for being a member of Balanced Rewards! You can see signs all through the store how to save on everything from healthy living products to foods and more! There really is no reason NOT to be a Balanced Rewards member so be sure to sign up using the app, online or in stores!
Now that I have Walgreens at my fingertips, on my corner and online, I know that I can succeed on meeting at least some of my New Years Resolutions this year. Now if I could just find an app to help me fold laundry, I’d be all set!
