With three small children, I am always on alert for them getting sick, hurting themselves, or hurting each other. Like slamming head first into the corner during a lively game of hide and seek. Thankfully, that has not happened yet. But I need to know where to go, what to do and how to handle things should something come up. Especially during this season where prescriptions for strep throat and such are needed. For a while now, I have been completely impressed with the tools Walgreens has to help me manage my families medications, schedules and health information. I love the Walgreens App withRefill Reminders, my Prescription History and other awesome options that help me out every day!

I was in Walgreens today preparing for the inevitable onslaught of colds and other issues my kids might have when they head back to school tomorrow. After such a long break, I think the exposure to germs will be something I need to be concerned about. So I got a thermometer, some Walgreens brand cough drops, some multi vitamins for me and more to stock up. My Walgreens is so convenient and, while there, two different people asked me if I needed help. I love that they still value costumer service! But sometimes, it is hard to get to the pharmacy all the time. So the Walgreens app is really helpful to me. And it is FREE!

My daughter, Katie, seems to be my strep throat child. She gets it if there is even a hint of it in her school or extra curricular activity. It has been bad this year, especially, and she had already missed 5 days of school just for strep. She has even needed refills on prescriptions in the past due to a particularly stubborn strain. Luckily, when I fill my prescription at Walgreens (make sure you use your Balance Rewards Card!), I can get automatic Refill Reminders (text or email!). This, to me, is an invaluable service for a super busy single mom! I can barely remember my name most days so being reminded about something so important is a huge relief to me!

The other thing I LOVE about the Walgreens app and being online with Walgreens.com is that I can have a virtual Pharmacy Chat. During the time that I was taking my girls – and myself – for Flu shots, Katie was not able to get one. She was dealing with strep again and had a fever. I was frustrated because I thought I would have to make another doctor’s appointment at our very busy pediatrician’s office, take her out of school again and then take her for the shot.

But then I realized that Walgreens does Flu shots as well. So I logged into Pharmacy Chat from the app and asked if shots were available. My closest store is out but they directed me where to walk in and get one. And it will cost about the same as the pediatrician. Plus, I can go in anytime I want with her as long as it is during pharmacy hours.
