An estimated 190 million children under the age of five suffer from vitamin A deficiency, which can lead to weakened immune systems, childhood blindness, and even death. Further, there are 535 million children (6 months – 59 months) around the world are at risk of vitamin A deficiency.

Though my three kids may never know the pain of undernutrition, I do. As a child raised in a very poor environment before me adoption, I know what it is like to only get a cracker with a smear of peanut better for dinner. Or to wait all day to have one big meal because we could not afford to have three square meals. When I was removed from the home I was certainly suffering from many deficiencies, including vitamin A. So this cause tugs on my heart. I would love to live in a world where kids have everything they need to succeed at all times!
