Let’s talk about marrying flavors for a moment. While shopping in the freezer aisle at H-E-B for my State Fair Corn Dogs, I walked the aisles coming up with new dip ideas. State Fair Corn Dogs are already a very flavorful corn dog made with real honey. Not only do they have 6 grams of protein per serving, they taste amazing too! I love biting into the crispy batter and finding a juicy hotdog hidden inside. While dipping them in mustard is the standard pairing, I like to experiment to bring out even more flavor. Hence my myriad of dip recipes that pair perfectly with these corn dogs.
I really enjoy State Fair Corn Dogs! They help fuel my kids’ play because they are a good source of protein, but they also helps moms win the day! They are great for an everyday snack or meal that kids prefer, especially with these dips, and we moms can trust them too!
Peanut Butter Dip Recipe
This dip gives a creamy Asian flair to an already delicious corn dog. I was skeptical about it but it really combines well with State Fair Corn Dogs!
- 1 1" piece ginger, peeled
- 1 small garlic clove
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon (packed) light brown sugar
- ¼ -1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
- In a blender, combine ginger and garlic clove and blend until finely chopped.
- Add peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, and ⅓ cup water and blend, adding more water by the tablespoon if needed to thin, until smooth.
You can make this ahead as well. Just cover it and refrigerate. It lasts about 3 days in the fridge. Then pull it out and bring it to room temperature to dip!
Everyone has a recipe for Tzatziki Dip and mine is pretty standard. I love love love this creamy and cool dip paired with the sweetness of State Fair Corn Dogs! Give it a try! I promise you will love it!
- ½ English cucumber, peeled
- 16 oz. (2 cups) Cold plain Greek yogurt
- 4 cloves garlic, pressed
- ⅓ cup chopped dill, fresh or frozen
- 1½ Tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
- ½ tsp salt, or to taste
- ⅛ tsp black pepper
- Dice the cucumber finely. I did not dry or drain it as I wanted this to be a dippable sauce as opposed to a spreadable one. Grate the cucumber and add it to a bowl with Greek Yogurt. Add the garlic, dill, lemon juice, salt and pepper and blend well. Chill and serve.
Because I just love coming up with fun ways to enhance my State Fair Corn Dogs, I also wanted to ‘dress them up’ in unique toppings. I love love love bacon, lettuce, tomato everything! Making a topping for a corn dog with those ingredients seemed like a no brainer!
All you need is about 1-2 tbsp. of mayo, depending on how many corn dogs you want to dress, bacon, lettuce and tomato.
In a bowl, mix the mayo, lettuce and tomato together. Place some on the top of the corn dog and then drop chopped bacon over the top. Make several and line them up. Then watch as people experience the new flavors coming together perfectly!
Be sure to share your dressed up State Fair Corn Dog and to enter the “Corn Dog Dip-Off” sweepstakes between 3/17/18 and 4/29/18!
