A few weeks ago, I asked you guys to help me pick out some colors for my playroom!

You were awesome and though it was neck and neck, the most popular votes went to painting the playroom all three colors!

So I headed over to Walmart and bought my 3 gallons of Glidden’s Warm Gold, 1 Gallon of Glidden Brilliance Collection Orange Slice, and a Quart of Glidden’s Brilliance Collection Amethyst Jewel!

I had BIG plans!

Before we started to paint, we had to remove everything from the room and texture to garage walls.  See, our playroom is the 3rd bay of our garage!  Yes… we got innovative!

The walls prior to texture was just a basic sheet rock.  My husband and his friend, Steve, textured the walls with a hopper.  I left for Walmart to escape this step for fear that I would end up with 3 textured kids!

When we got back, we had to wait about an hour before we could paint.

Tip:  We probably should have waited over night.  We thought it was dry but took some of the texture off rolling paint on.

Working fast and furious, we painted the Warm Gold on the ceiling and half the walls.  I then painted the Orange Slice on the bottom parts of the walls while my husband took the kids to a friends house.  And that is why I have no pictures of the orange going on!

The next day my husband set up the laser level and I started my grand plan to make this playroom really pop!  I took painters tape and marked off the outlines for the Amethyst Jewel border.  Had I really done it right, I would have painted over the tape with the contrasting colors to make sure the purple did not bleed.  I did not and though there was some bleeding, it turned out just fine!

TIPIt is hard to tape and paint over heavy texture.  Since we knew that was our plan, we should have done a thinner grain of texture.

Needless to say, it took two full weekends to paint our garage playroom 3 beautiful colors!  But the transformation is amazing!   it is so bright and fresh and the girls love it!

Here is the before and after of the right view -sorry for the blur!

So that is how we took paint and made a garage into a playroom!
