My Kids Surprised Three Moms with a Random Act of Kindness

It has been a busy year of changes, thrills and learning for the girls and I. In the chaos of life though, I really want to drive home being kind to others to my kids. As Mother’s Day approaches, I have been thinking of ways that they can celebrate other moms that will create memories for them and the moms, too! Last week, when I received the NEW Teavana Oprah Chai in the mail, I got an idea. Why not make Mother’s day special for random strangers AND share with them that on Sunday, Mother’s Day 2014, Starbucks will be having a BOGO sale on the Teavana Oprah Chai?

Yesterday while I planned the outing to surprise some moms, I sat sipping my Teavana Oprah Chai. Hot or cold, this tea is rich with flavor, sweetness and that little bite that makes Chai tea so good. I read on the Steep Your Soul website that the purchase of this tea or any product associates with it donated funds to the Oprah Leadership Academy to further educational opportunities for youth.

Pumped and wanting more Teavana Oprah Chai, the girls and I loaded up to head to our nearest Starbucks, which happens to be in a retail store. This was the perfect location to find moms who needed a little surprise!

I purchased an Iced Teavana Oprah Chai and three $5 gift cards – one for each of my girls. I then wrote the hashtag, #TeavanaOprahChai on the cards so the moms could find out about the BOGO sale on Sunday and take a friend. They both could get free tea with the surprise!

I know the video is a little blurry and shaky but the idea, the excitement from the kids and the moms was clear and strong! My kids talked about this all night long and want to do it again tonight! I may just let them.
