Yes, that is me on Facebook talking about how a month after starting CrossFit, I can fit into shorts that I could not before. It is a small victory, it is. But it is one of those little accomplishments that keeps me going and motivates me to push even harder. Deciding to take up a new sport or work out routine at almost 43 seemed like a daunting task. Especially one that is grueling and so foreign to what I have ever done before. We all know I play tennis and love it. But Tennis does not prepare you for CrossFit. However, CrossFit helps make me a better tennis player! In any event, I thought it would be hard. And it is. But the benefits so outweigh the sweat and I get up every morning ready to go again! While embarking on this journey I also want to be careful about what I eat without taking the sweets out of my diet. The other day, while waiting to check out at Walmart, I spotted goodnessknows® Cranberry, Almond, Dark Chocolate snack squares and goodnessknows® Apple, Almond & Peanut, Dark Chocolate snack squares. They also have goodnessknows® Peach & Cherry, Almond, Dark Chocolate snack squares that sound AH-mazing! I read the package and decided to try them out. Boy, am I GLAD I did!
I told myself in the beginning of this journey not to expect too much. After all, in all my attempts in the past, only tennis stuck. So as I followed my neighbor to her ‘box’, I did not expect much. By my third free class, I was totally hooked. Not hooked like this is so much fun for a month. Hooked like I want to do this forever. It just fit me. 5 weeks later, I am still going strong and starting to see real results like I have not before. I still play tennis too but CrossFit is addictive in a different way.
In fact, today, as I dead lifted my highest weight yet – 125 pounds!!!!! – I thought, ‘Wow, this is awesome!’
I am so proud of myself, I won’t lie. I promised myself, though, that I would not get so into it that I forgot to treat myself, too. Whether it be new work out outfits, new gloves to help me grip the bar better or a sweet treat, I wanted to make sure that my accomplishments did not go unnoticed by me. So when I saw goodnessknows® squares by the register in Walmart, I reached for them.
First of all, I am a dark chocoholic. So anything with a hint of it is going in my mouth. But with no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners, only 150 calories and no high fructose corn syrup, I could enjoy these chocolaty, nutty treats without guilt! And they are good. So, so good. These gooey, crunchy snack squares are just what the doctor ordered when I want that after workout snack that won’t ruin what I just did in the box!
We all work so hard to take care of our kids, our households, our friends and our family. In the midst of it we need to do something to make us feel great about us. Whether it be taking up a new sport or work out program or just finally getting the hall closet cleaned out, goodness to greatness deserves a reward!
Pick up goodnessknows® snack squares in all three delicious flavors at Walmart today!
