After 32 years, Wet ‘n’ Wild SplashTown Houston still means more! It is the largest water park in Houston and opens May 7, 2016. It offers 42 slides and attractions on over 80 acres!!
I packed up the kids, invited our cousins and headed out for a day of water, food and fun at Wet ‘n’ Wild SplashTown in Houston. I admit, even though I have lived near or in Houston for 25 years, I have never ventured to this water park. Now that I have kids, however, I am always looking for great family fun to combat the heat of the summer in Houston! Wet ‘n’ Wild SplashTown is a super fun adventure!
The 80-acre water park is the closet park to Houston and has been newly renovated to offer the best value for family-friendly entertainment with 42 water slides and attractions in addition to new food offerings and a second bar.
Getting to the park is pretty easy for Houston and surrounding areas. Located right off of I45 on the feeder, you turn in an immediately park. We got there about at the open and parked on the first row and walked right into the park. We walked to the locker rental area, stowed our stuff and headed to the Lazy River to get into the festivities. With complimentary life vests, I did not have to worry about my weakest swimmer, Megan at all. Though she did surprise me and actually let go!

During our stay, my kids enjoyed the Tree House, the Blue Lagoon Activity pool and Wet ‘n Wild, Jr. As a family, the girls and I took on the Big Kahuna while my more adventurous Sister in Law and teenage niece held on tight on the Tornado. They even came back drenched and excited from the, floor falls out beneath you, Texas Freefall!
All of the bigger kids popped out of the bottom of the Big Spin while I cheered them on!
We laughed, we swam, we slid and we ate for most of the day. An unexpected rainstorm that would not stop came in and ended the day a few hours earlier than we wanted. But Splashtown Wet ‘n Wild is on our list as a must visit again this year! In fact, I am looking into season tickets!
If you live in or near Houston or are coming this way any time this summer, put Houston’s largest water park on your list for a day of family fun that will be a memory for life!
