There was a time when I was so into finding the best meats for my family that I actually negotiated to purchase a quarter of a cow with a rancher. It was years ago and I did not do it, for whatever reason, but it started me on the hunt for better meats that the kids and I could enjoy. Shopping in stores is great and most have some meat in their sections that are Grass Fed and Organic. But the pickings can be slim and the price can be high. So when I heard that there is a subscription box service that is not only affordable, but that offers 100% Grass-fed Beef, Organic/Pastured Chicken, and Heritage Breed Pork, I had to learn everything I could about ButcherBox!
Here is what I LOVE about ButcherBox:
It is Affordable – I compared the $129 price to the money I would spend at the store for the same quality of meats. At only $6.50 a meal, ButcherBox saved me over $1 per meal with the same, 100% grass fed meats.
It comes to My Home – I am at the store all the time for my work. So much so that weekly shopping trips have lost their charm. As a single mom, quick stops are much more beneficial than long trips. So being able to go in, hit one or two sections and leave is a huge benefit. With ButcherBox, I get 15-20 meals of protein delivered to my home without having to search the meat aisle. I L O V E that!
The Variety helps with Meal Planning – OK, I admit, I am not a great meal planner. However, when my ButcherBox got here, packed well in dry ice and frozen solid for safety, I was able to plan based on the meats I received. For instance, using the Thin Sliced Beef, a product that is terribly hard to find in stores, my Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef came to mind. I have not made this in YEARS and I was so missing out!
FREE SHIPPING – This heavy package of quality meats could really cost an arm and a leg just to ship. But ButcherBox offers Free Shipping always. With my $10 off deal and FREE Bacon, this is the way to get that Organic Chicken and 100% Grass Fed Beef into your home. With a mix of steaks, ground beef, chicken tenders and more, you have an entire month of meats at a cost we can afford!
Cancel Anytime – No one wants to sign up for a box and then have to jump through hoops to cancel it. If, for any reason, you don’t want delivery anymore, just cancel. Simple. Easy and done. However, I have a feeling you won’t want to!
Now that you can see why I think that this is the way to get your 100% Grass-fed Beef, Organic/Pastured Chicken, and Heritage Breed Pork in 7-10 pounds of meat per package, lets talk about a resurrected recipe that ButcherBox inspired for me!
Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef Recipe
This delicious meal starts with 100% Grass Fed Thin Sliced Beef that was in my ButcherBox. I used to make this years ago but had forgotten about it. Now that I have made it again, it is a go to that my girls and I love!
- 1 pd Flank Steak
- ¼ c cornstarch
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- ½ tsp minced Garlic
- ¾ c Soy Sauce
- ¾ c Water
- ¾ c Brown Sugar
- 1 c grated Carrots
- chives, for garnish
- Turn your slow cooker to low for 4-6 hours or high for 1-2 hours. IN a large baggie, add the cornstarch. Toss in the Thin Sliced Beef and toss to coat.
- Add the Olive Oil, Garlic, Soy Sauce, Water, Brown Sugar and grated carrots to the slow cooker. Stir well. Add in the chicken, stir, cover and let cook.
- Serve over rice or alone and garnish with the chives!
This tender meat recipe has a kick of sweet and a rich flavor the whole family will love. I heat it up the next day and eat it right out of the container. It is that good!
