One of my favorite things in the whole world is a Root Beer Float. But, as I have gotten older and become more conscious of the calories I am putting in my body, I have had to let go of some things. Like high calorie sodas that I used to drink every day. I had to give them up, only enjoying them on occasion. But as I walked through Walmart the other day, I came across Core Four TEN sodas! Canada Dry Ginger Ale, 7-Up, Sunkist Orange Soda and even – wait for it… A&W Root Beer! My taste buds did a little flip flop as they realized that with the A&W TEN Root Beer, I might be able to have my creation of my Chocolate Chip Cookie Root Beer Float again!

Now, how I came up with this concoction stems back to my childhood. I *might* have had a Root Beer Float and *might* have stolen a chocolate chip cookie off the island – even though my mom said no – and *might* have used it to scoop delicious ice cream with little Root Beer bubbles on it and realized I had a new treat!
But, as previously discussed, I gave up sodas when I realized how many calories a serving had. Plus, any soda that I have tried that has ‘sweeteners’ just does not have the full taste I like. If I am going to indulge, I want the full flavors of the sodas tingling in my mouth!
With renewed hope in my step, I picked up all four TEN products and put them in my cart. Images of everything from soda ice cubes to my float danced in my head! To accompany my excitement I picked up some low calorie ice cream, chocolate chip cookie dough and some maraschino cherries for the ice cubes.
When my kids went to bed… what? I have to share?… I started my creation! I baked my cookies and while they were in the oven, added a cherry to the bottom of some star shaped ice cube holders. I then filled some more ice cube trays with the Sunkist TEN. I love mixing my soda flavors. So putting Sunkist TEN ice cubes in my 7-UP Ten just gives it a new, refreshing flavor! Adding the 7-UP TEN ice cubes into the Canada Dry Ginger Ale TEN and the Sunkist TEN makes them colorful and adds a little fruity twist!
But back to the float… when the warm cookies came out of the oven, I put one in the bottom of the mug. I added a scoop (or two) of ice cream and it immediately began to melt on the cookie. This is important because as you dig with your spoon later, your cookies will be soft and chewy. A great ending to a fun float!
Add some cookie pieces in as you build your float! Again, as you spoon and sip, you get little pieces of happy! Pour the all important A&W TEN Root Beer over the whole thing and top with more cookie pieces. Sit back, relax and taste your creation.
I was pleasantly surprised to taste the whole flavor of the Root Beer! Not the skinnied down flavor of past sodas!
I am so excited! I can now enjoy some of my favorite treats again with the new Core Four TEN products at Walmart! Go get yours and create your delicious drink or treat!
