Houston, TX is a huge city full of life, food and entertainment. I have lived here and in surrounding area for 23 years. In that time I have been impressed with the mix of culture from the food to the people.
Are you coming to Houston? Check out my personal favorite restaurants in Houston that I go back to time and time again in and around town!
One of my favorite things to do is to get my girlfriend’s together and go out. I love wine, good food and an elegant but fun atmosphere. The Tasting Room has a few locations in Houston and surrounding areas. Ask the server for the wine that compliments your meal. And I highly recommend the Lemon & Paprika Infused Hummus with Grilled Pita Bread! See my entire review and Girl’s Night Out thoughts!
Alicia’s Mexican Restaurant, Cypress, TX
Alicia’s offers killer margaritas accompanied by great food that keeps you coming back for more. Expanded to hold the growing crowds in the Northwest suburb of Houston, TX, Alicia’s more than tripled it’s restaurant space a few years back. I love to sit outside with friends and enjoy the sounds of the city behind me. Get there early, sit on the patio or in the festive, busy bar and enjoy Mexican Food with friends.
Shogun Japanese Grill and Sushi Bar, Houston, TX
One of my favorite things is to have food prepared for me. At Shogun, if you sit at the Hibachi table, you can watch every step. Though this is a wonderful place to take children, there is nothing better than gathering friends, enjoying some Saki and watching your mouthwatering plates be prepared in an entertaining and fun fashion. The portions are HUGE and I can get another meal or two out of them easily. Try the fried rice and the chicken plate. If you are not a Hibachi fan, they have tables, separate rooms and an elegant bar you can enjoy your evening in!
STRAITS Restaurant, CityCentre, Houston, TX
Recently I went on a staycation in Houston, TX. In CityCentre, a booming mix of apartments, restaurants, shops and offices located off of I10, the Katy Freeway, sits an elegant, wonderful restaurant with A+ service and atmosphere! I love the mix of Singapore and Asian Tapas feel as the food comes out delicious, presented perfectly and ready to dive into. Try the Singapore Satay Sticks in Beef and Chicken. And pair it with the Pineapple Sangria!
Michaelangelo’s Restaurant, Houston, TX
One of my favorite, all time date night restaurants is nestled in the eclectic area of Montrose on Houston, TX. I’ve been here a million times and could go a million more. The atmosphere is romantic and whimsical and the food is some of the best Italian food I have ever had. With a romantic patio that overlooks bustling Westheimer Street, the restaurant is a date night dream with an elegant flair.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Houston, TX
On my 21st birthday I was taken to a steak house where the steak sizzled on the plate, the asparagus crunched with delectable flavor and the wine flowed in perfect harmony with my palette. Ruth’s Chris Steak House is probably one of my favorite places in Houston and beyond. Your classic tablecloth, wear a tie or your best little black dress, restaurant, Ruth’s Chris creates mouthwatering steaks and sides that make you feel like a spoiled little rich girl. Enjoy a B&B with dessert and relax for the evening in elegance.
Bogega’s Taco Shop, Houston, TX
I was just introduced to this restaurant located in the Museum District of Houston, TX and I am already itching to go back. I can not believe I have never eaten here before. Not only is the atmosphere a cross between old Mexico and Modern America, but the food is outstanding. With everything from taco’s, burritos, nacho’s and more, this TexMex dream is mouthwatering and satisfying to any Mexican Food lover!
Empire Cafe, Houston, TX
Now this one goes back to my college days when I rented a house in the Montrose area and frequented restaurants on a daily basis. And this one I chose to list last because the draw factor here is their amazing cakes and coffee! Empire Cafe sits quietly in the Montrose area on the way to Downtown. The building is old Houston and the atmosphere is sit and linger. With cakes like Chocolate Italian Cream and Berry White, invite your girls friends for some down time with a huge piece bursting with flavor and a smooth Italian Coffee to wash it all down. The perfect end of the night place to perch and watch the world go by!
I’ve never been to any of these! We still drive through Houston on occasion so I’ll be sure to check them out. Thanks!
You are welcome! That is what I love about Houston – so many restaurants, so little time!
