Poise Personal Lubricant

When I was around 12 or 13 years old, I remember my mom sitting me down and telling me something about a movie that I was going to see in school.  I vaguely remember what she said except there was something about a ‘cycle’ and ‘pads’ and ‘cramps’.  And it would happen every month for the rest of my life.  At least, that is how I heard it.

It sounded fun.

Not.

And after three kids, I was introduced to the wonderful world of LBL – or light bladder leakage.  Luckily, I was also introduced to Poise and their line of products for LBL and have never looked back.  I love Poise and have even promoted and written about them on this blog before. I can laugh, sneeze and kick a soccer ball with confidence!

Poise The 2nd Talk Products

But as I get closer to 40 – November 18 for those who want to shop early – I am already noticing some changes in my monthly cycles and hormones.  They are becoming more erratic, more painful and less predictable.  After 26 tears of knowing what to expect, it is a little unsettling and my Doctor has said the changes could be a sign of menopause but I am still pretty young.  So I have a long way to go.

So, though I am probably many years from the classic symptoms of menopause – hot flashes, intimacy issues and freshness problems – I am still excited to see that Poise is not only providing quality products for women in the throws of body disharmony, but that they are creating a forum for menopause to be discussed too.

The 2nd Talk is geared towards educating and discussing this difficult time in life with women everywhere!   Bringing menopause and the embarrassing symptoms that come with it out into the open can only be beneficial.  Because, though my mom was super awesome to have the 1st talk about how it all starts with me, the same is not shared from generation to generation on the end of that phase.
So I love that there is a forum and place to learn, talk and feel like you are not alone.  I have a friend who went through menopause at 36 and I have a friend who is now going through is it at 48.   You just don’t know when  it is going to start so to have a friendly ear, along with great products to help you though, is invaluable!

Like my neighbor, for instance.  She is 43 and starting to experience the changes that are coming.  She has spoken to her Doctor and he thinks that her sudden dryness and spotty, strange cycles and mood swings are definitely related to menopause.  In fact she has been trying to find a way to stay more “normal” as she filters her way through misinformation, woman who don’t share and her own feelings about heading down this new path.

Just as we were both confused about starting our periods and the unknown that comes with that, she is a little fearful of menopause and what it will mean to her.  Dealing with the ending of the times that she can have children – even if your done it is still hard to admit that phase, I think – her new body’s reaction to things and the other issues is stressful and the information out there is so vast and hard to really grasp, in her opinion.  So she is thrilled that she now has a place to go to listen to other women who are experiencing the same thing!
