I am sitting in my house listening to the rain fall and the kids play on yet another day of no school. We are in Tomball, TX, not far from Houston and in the midst of the Houston Floods happening as we speak. It is raining again and more storms are on the way all day long as the news plays in the background. Neighborhoods not far from me are being evacuated via boat. Waters from creeks that have never flooded are invading homes, flooding out cars and causing absolute disaster in the surrounding areas. In my neighborhood, the homes in the back have flooded or at least are close and people are parking RV’s, cars and boats on higher ground. This event has not only stalled Houston in our daily activities but reminds me, once again, of the needs that arise in a natural disaster. With people rushing out of their flooding homes in a matter of minutes, items like clothing, diapers and blankets are left behind. With those being the most donated, I often wonder about things like toilet paper, Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths, tampons and more that may be massively needed with little donation. So I am putting together Natural Disaster Privacy Kits that include the above and more for those people who need the items we can often forget about.
Shopping at Sams Club the other day, I naturally loaded up on things for my home. This included the Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths with the newly designed packs. I always have these in my home as they are versatile for the girl’s bathroom, wiping down dog paws after being out in the rain and even on to go when I take a road trip with the girls. The Mega Packs that you can get at Sams Club are perfect for busy families but also for kits that are needed at this time in my town. With Sam’s Club Memberships, you can also get Curb Side Sam’s Pick-Up and Subscriptions services that can send your most needed items to you regularly!
As I have said, these cleansing cloths have so many functions but can you imagine having these when you show up to the shelter, cold and dirty from flooding and having them in a personal pack to wipe yourself down? If it were me, it would be a necessity I didn’t know I needed. In addition, you can use them and not worry about them as they are septic and sewer safe, break up after flushing and, of course, are flush-able. That just gives you one less thing to worry about!
With the One Touch* dispenser, the Member Voted new designs and being alcohol free, you can use the Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths for so many things easily! But adding them to the Natural Disaster Privacy Kits is important for me right now.
Natural Disaster Privacy Kit
What you need:
- Cottonelle® Fresh Care* Flushable Cleansing Cloths – buy them in bulk at Sams Club
- Toilet paper
- Tampons/ pads
- Toothbrushes
- Toothpaste
- large plastic baggies
Just grab a bag that is large enough for everything and stuff them full of the items you have. You can add or take out anything you think you would want in an emergency situation but I can’t think of any situation where someone, man or woman, could not use the cleansing cloths. Line all of your items up, grab the kids and start stuffing!
While I continue to reach out to neighbors and friends that may need help, I am glad the girls and I are doing something to help the community too. We will take these up the road to the local shelter to hand out later on as the roads clear. People rushed from their home will need items for days to come.
What would you add to the Natural Disaster Personal Kit for people in your area?
I’m so glad that you and the girls are okay, but it is just devastating what is going on in your area! My sister lives in Conroe so she’s okay as well, but she hasn’t been able to go to work because of the flooding. Thank you for thinking of others and making these great kits. [client]
Oh I pray she is OK and stays that way! I consider myself very lucky as everything around me is in disarray. I just hope when we drop these off later, people really can use them! Thank you so much!
