 If you are looking for a zinger of a dessert that will satisfy every nook and cranny of your sweet tooth, try this Lemon Pound Cake and Lemon Sauce recipe.  A refreshingly delightful, and fragrant confection that company will love, gives this recipe a top spot in our family dinners.

Lemon Pound Cake & Lemon Sauce
Recipe type: Dessert
  • 3 sticks of butter softened
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 Tsp. Lemon Extract
  • 3 Cups all purpose flour
  • ¾ Tsp. Baking Powder
  • ¼ Tsp. Salt
  1. Heat oven to 325
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar beating well.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time into the creamed mixture.
  4. Add the lemon extract
  5. Slowly add the flour, baking powder and salt and mix well.
  6. Bake in fluted pan or loaf pan until toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Loaf pan: ~45 minutes

Lemon Sauce
Recipe type: Dessert
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • ⅛ Cup Cornstarch
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1¾ cups boiling water
  • 2 T. Lemon zest
  • 1 Freshly squeezed lemon
  • 1 T. Butter
  1. In a sauce pan over medium heat, add the sugar, cornstarch, salt and boiling water.
  2. Stir constantly until the sauce becomes thick.
  3. Add lemon zest, lemon juice and butter, continue to stir.
  4. **I added a couple drops of yellow food coloring** to really give the sauce a glow.
  5. **Strain the lemon zest out of the sauce if desired**
  6. Pour over cut, cooled ready to serve lemon pound cake.
