It is almost with tears in my eyes that I write this post. As a mom, as a woman and as the little girl I used to be who relied on the kindness of others to receive anything as a child on Christmas, the things that Hasbro is allowing me to do to help others is truly humbling. This is my second year of spreading the message of the Joy Maker Challenge and I pray that I get to continue year after year. This year, it was my great honor to not only take my kids, once again, to donate 20 toys to our local community, but to also GIVE 20 Hasbro Toys to a winner PLUS 20 MORE for them to donate to their community as well! Yes… you can win 20 for your family to make your holiday season brighter and then 20 to give to pay it forward to someone else! How amazing is this?
Before I get into where we donated our toys, let me tell you about the amazing Joy Maker Challenge. Please take the time to learn a little about this amazing program and how you and your family can participate year after year!
Read and Participate in the Joy Maker Challenge!
Hasbro and generationOn, the youth division of Point of Light, have partnered for the seventh annual JoyMaker Challenge, a campaign encouraging youth ages 5-18 to spread joy to people in need during the holidays through volunteer service
- For every kid and teen who volunteers throughout The Joy Maker Challenge, Hasbro will donate a toy or game to Toys for Tots (up to $1 million worth)
- From November 21 – December 23, teens, teachers, youth development professionals and families can sign up, search for local volunteer projects or share their stories for The Joy Maker Challenge through the campaign website (generationOn.org/joymaker)
- The website features service project ideas, downloadable planning tool kits and project guides, developed by generationOn, to help youth learn about and spread joy to those in need
- Four grand prize winners will be selected at the end of the campaign to win a $500 grant, while 20 additional participants will be awarded $250 grants each
- 100 ‘Kindness Ambassadors’ were selected by generationOn to receive 100 toys to donate locally
- The Joy Maker Ambassadors were selected based on their volunteer contributions, holiday project story and community need
- The Joy Maker Challenge is part of BE FEARLESS BE KIND, Hasbro’s new signature philanthropic initiative designed to inspire and empower kids to have the empathy, compassion and courage to stand up for others and be inclusive throughout their lives
- Hasbro, which has a long and proud tradition of empowering children through its many philanthropic programs, is one of generationOn’s founding partners
generationOn,the youth division of Points of Light, provides programs and resources that support the development of caring, compassionate and capable kids and teens through service, empowering them to become changemakers in their communities and the world.
Now that you see how amazing this is, let me share about our donation.
Our local fire department runs an amazing toy drive that gives toys, clothing and more to the families in our area that need it most. I felt like, by donating to them, the toys would go to the right homes. So even though the main office was closed, the men and woman on duty happily took in the toys, posed for photos and talked to my kids about the spirit of the holiday season. It was really a heartwarming experience and I love that my kids happily donated ALL of the toys in the box without asking to keep any for themselves.
This really is the season of giving and I love that Hasbro, generationon and Joy Maker Challenge is here to help us all remember that.
As a thank you to my readers, and to Hasbro who generously donated the toys for this giveaway, I am THRILLED to be able to host this amazing opportunity!

Give a little…until you can give a lot
This would help in so many ways. I have 5 kids. Plus there are collections going on in my town at the community center and police station because alot of families are in the same boat.
Just comment?
OOPS, Hit refresh for the entry form!!!
I love that it blesses those who really need it the most. Years back. I found myself in need and it was difficult to ask for help. Being able to give back now is the greatest gift during the holiday season!
This is great! My son entered his project in the joy maker challenge! He created and handed out “you deserve a break” cards to anyone who seemed a little stressed this holiday season! The cashier, the delivery guy, the mom with the screaming toddler visiting Santa…. he just wants everyone to know they are appreciated!
I love that it’s the youth that get to help others. Teaches them something.
I love that so many children will have a brighter christmas! Help even a little and it could make a huge difference.
I love that it involves kids. I would like to involve my son in this when he gets older. I think it is a good lesson for them to learn at a young age.
I love that one of the challenges is collecting puzzles for senior citizens! How wonderful! I’m looking into signing my son and I up! I haven’t done it yet though.
I love that it teaches children and teens to volunteer! It’s so important to start them young to make them well-rounded individuals!
I love the fact that this involves kids. It’s important to start helping others as soon as possible! I would love to do the “Puzzles to Remember” in honor of my grandma who has dementia and “Share the Season” to give to our troops. I think it’s important to show the troops that we care and support them. Thank you SO MUCH for this giveaway! Even if I don’t win I know that the winner will do good things for his/her community. Merry Christmas! kristiedonelson(at)gmail(dot)com Thank you.

I like that it gets kids involved. So many are clueless to the hardships of others.
I love how it shows and encourages kids to give back. They always need to be taught that and shown!
I love this idea of donating toys! I also love that they are trying to get 100k Youth To be involved. Currently, they are at 27,700!
What a great way to give back, my husband and I donated about fifteen new toys to our local Toy’s For Tots program this year.
I love that it involves children. Teaching kids charity & community involvement at a young age benefits society, because lessons instilled young stick better as we age

I love that Hasbro will donate a toy or game to Toys for Tots, up to 1 million dollars’ worth, if teens and kids volunteer.

I love that it gets everyone to get involved and help
I commented in the box and then I saw these so I am commenting here too. I just wanted to thank you…I am sure you have inspired so many people to donate toys or food or their time. We give at our church and always try to help with charities. We don’t have much but we have open hearts and time and, one day, we will be able to give more than that. I am going to sign up. I want to teach my baby boy to always give of yourself no matter what it is…time or money…everything you do for others is worth doing. I am truly moved by the generosity of you and Hasbro. This would make a big difference to us and to everyone on here, I am sure. Thank you so much! I am grateful just for the chance! xoxoxo
I really love that the Joy Maker Challenge website has a section that will show volunteer opportunities by zip code. I think that a lot of times people want to volunteer, but aren’t sure how and where they can help. Thanks so much to Hasbro for their generosity and to you for helping to spread the word! That’s wonderful!
I like that it is a flexible donation program
I like that it involves kids..
It is nice to see everyone involved so kids understand the whole process.
The flexability.
I love the get & give of this contest. Its helps so many in need.

I like that it teaches children to think about others.
I like they encourage kids and teens to participate and even donate more if they do
I love that it teaches our children at their age they can already make a difference in their community. It’s great to get them started at such a young age.
I love that it gives back. I tried to sign up for it but got confused. If I won I wouldn’t want to donate to a group of people but a family. A local family just lost everything including their 2 youngest babies in a house fire. The community is taking in items for them now and I would be blessed and honored to help
I love that it encourages volunteering among youth.
I love that youths and kids are involved in helping others. Teach them young.

I think it’s great that I can type in my zip and get a list of places to volunteer. It’s helpful and helps not getting discouraged.
It is very fantastic to give to those in need.
I really need new pots and pans g/l to all! Merry Christmas from southern Oregon!
So many do without it is wonderful to be able to help in any way possible.
I love that it shows volunteer opportunity’s near where I live.
I am a firm believer in teaching kids not to grow up “entitled”. My kids don’t get a trophy for participation. They are taught to be grateful for what they have and to share whatever they can.
I love to give. Every year we donate at least once to the infant/toddler pantry and it makes me feel good to be able to help children. Their comfort and happiness is such a big reward and it’s something that ever child deserves as well as love of course. :)
I liked that you can enter your zip code, and help out in your local area.
