Halloween is upon us! With it comes a month full of fun, candy and spooky merriment! Years ago we were BOO’d! What is BOO’d, you ask? We opened our door to a basket of goodies and a sign for our window saying, ‘You have been BOO’d!’. We had no idea who is was from, and still don’t, and the excitement around it was palatable! We hung the sign in our window and read the instructions on how to BOO it forward! I think we BOO’d 3 other families that year. This year, along with BOO’ing 5 other families, I am creating an awesome Halloween Party for friends full of candy inspired treats from M&M’s®, SNICKERS®, SKITTLES®, and STARBURST®! I am also taking advantage of the super cute Halloween 8 ounce cans packs of 7UP® and Sunkist®. With a little imagination and a huge desire to impress with both the BOO baskets this year and the party, I tried out some awesome recipes and ideas for you. The BOO Basket
There are so many great ways to do BOO baskets or bags. None have to be expensive but all will bring the best of smiles to the recipients! The basic gist is that you create a fun, family friendly, basket or bag, with a ‘We have been BOO’d’ card and instructions on how to BOO it forward. Before you go hunting around for the perfect card, just print the one I have! It has everything you need and is super cute to boot! Just click the ‘Print Now’ button and you will be taken to the free printable!

- Cut out this “We’ve been BOO’d sign.
- Fold the “You’ve been BOO’d” greeting card (page 2) and tape openings together.
- Include the card and sign when gifting BOO bundles.
My BOO kit started with a LOT of candy including M&M’s®, SNICKERS®, TWIX®, MILKY WAY®, 3 MUSKETEERS®, SKITTLES®, STARBURST®, and LIFESAVERS®! I mean, come on, everyone needs a great variety of candy all October long. I loaded up the pumpkin baskets and added all of the goodies I purchased at Walmart! In addition to the candy I added stickers, puzzles and some fun stuffed animals that will bring a smile to the faces of anyone who sees them! I then topped the whole basket again with some delicious candy!
Later on in the day, I dropped my BOO baskets off with the neighbors – shhhhh – don’t tell them who did it! Throughout the month I will BOO more people and maybe, just as in previous years, we can get almost every house in our neighborhood BOO’d!

Super Huge Candy Surprise Cookies
Halloween parties are all about the fun treats, right? We make them awesome and fun and get a little crazy. It is the one time a year that I go all out and treat it up top to bottom. These Super HUGE Candy Surprise Cookies could not be easier and more fun to eat!
- 1 large or 2 small rolls of sugar cookies
- Mars Mixed Minis 52 oz.
- Cut the sugar cookie log in slices. Make this step easier by putting the logs in the freezer for 10 minutes before starting. Cut the Mars Mixed Minis 52 oz. into small pieces. I did about 6 pieces each. On the bottom cookie, add 3 - 4 slices of candy. Add the top cookie and seal the seams with your fingers. Give them lots of room between on the cookies sheet because they will grow! Bake according to instructions or until golden!
There is something so awesome about biting into a crispy, delicious cookie and getting a taste of SNICKERS®, TWIX®, MILKY WAY®, and 3 MUSKETEERS®! The chewy sweetness of the candy combined with the cookie is a great addition to Halloween Party treats!
Melting Ghost Candy Bark
This one is TOO MUCH FUN! In fact, it may be my favorite thing on my entire Halloween Party table. It is SOOOO easy, literally the most fun to do and people love it. All you need are the ingredients, like more of the Mars Mixed Minis or even the Mars Chocolate Mix Fun Size bags of candy. You also need parchment paper, a lipped cookie sheet and room in your freezer.
- Any Mars candy, mini or fun size
- White chocolate melts or morsels
- Candy eyes
- Lay out your Mars candy on parchment paper. Melt your white chocolate according to package instructions. Pour the white chocolate over your candy layout, trying to evenly cover the area. Add some colorful M&M's® to the top along with pairs of 'ghost' eyes. Place in the freezer for about 30 minutes to an hour. Break by hand (the easiest) or use a knife to get the cracking pattern started. If you want smoother edges, let the bark warm up a little.
This is the most fun and creative use for Halloween candy both before and after the holiday. Plus it looks amazing on your party table!
Killer Cupcakes with Homemade Vanilla Icing
We all know how to make cupcakes, right? I use a box, I won’t lie. But I do love to make my own Homemade Vanilla Icing. In fact, my recipe for Homemade Buttercream Icing is very popular on Pinterest! I love it because the texture sort of ‘melts’ onto the cupcake and creates a beautiful gloss that you just can’t get store bought! Plus I can control the consistency and color if I want.
While shopping at Walmart the other day for my supplies, I found the cutest knife candies that gave me a great idea! Grabbing some red squeezable icing, I wanted to create Killer Cupcakes! It’s so easy!
Bake your cupcakes according to the box instructions. Ice with your Homemade Vanilla Icing and then use the red squeezable icing to create the ‘blood’. Then add the knife candy for the most fun cupcakes ever! Who does not love there? I mean… come on!
Spooky Fizzy Punch
No party is complete without a refreshing drink to wash down the treats with. Since it is a Halloween themed party, why not make a Spooky Fizzy Punch with eye balls swimming in it? Seems like a great idea to me! Along with the Sunkist® 8oz Halloween cans I got at Walmart, I also picked up the Halloween packs of 7UP® 8 ounce cans!
- 1- 2 7UP® 8oz 6pk Halloween can packs
- 1 container of rainbow sherbet, or any flavor
- plastic eyeballs - make sure people know they are decoration only and not to go IN their cups!
- Defrost the sherbet a little in the microwave. Pour the cans of 7UP® over the sherbet. Add the eyeballs and watch it fizz!!
Come on… how fun is this?
Treat Bags
We all make treat bags for parties, right? So be sure to head to Walmart to pick up Wrigley Monster Stash 315ct to stuff them full! Just find some awesome bags, stuff them to the hilt and hand them out to party attendees! I displayed them on my party table in a plastic cauldron I found and it really added to the ambiance!
The Party Table
I am not the most creative lady on the planet and am a less is more kind of party thrower. So as I walked the aisles of Walmart I looked for easy decorations that would add that spooky touch without costing me a fortune or being too complicated.
A simple tablecloth is the base for it all. For the backdrop I found some old, creepy photos that can be hung on a door, in a window or taped to the wall behind your party table. I added some fun bats that sit on the table and then made sure that my cutlery, plates and napkins were Halloween themed!
I also found a super fun pink skeleton and added it for even more decoration. Using color coordinated candy holders for the Mars candies and Halloween packs of sodas blends everything together. For the treats, I found a tray with sections so I could carry it all to the table and clean it up with less trips.
