How to Remember to Send that Birthday Card for Under $1 a Card from Hallmark #SendSmiles #ad

I forgot my dad’s birthday. Yep. I looked at the calendar, my heart sank and I debated whether or not to crawl in a hole. Instead, I picked up the phone. I admitted my error and graveled for forgiveness. I made a note then and there to make sure I did not forget an important birthday again! The first thing I did was install one of the many apps on my phone that remind me when a birthday is coming. These apps allow you to enter birthdays so that you get reminders of whose is coming up. Some also sync to iCloud so that you don’t lose them even when you upgrade your phone. Choose the one you like, many are free, and don’t be where I was a month ago! The second thing I did was make sure that I had cards, stamps and more on hand so that when I was reminded, I could get that all important card in the mail! I grabbed my kids, headed to Walmart and, literally, stocked up the Hallmark cards starting at $.47 cents that were on shelves!

Yes, you read that right. On shelves at Walmart you can stock up on cards for the entire year for just $.47 cents each! I told my girls that we needed 50 cards with a variety of messages. Birthdays, thank you’s, sympathy, wedding, new baby and more. It took a while but even with the 50 cards, we did not get them all. As I watched my girls pluck card after card off the shelf, I knew I would be spending less than $25 for all of the cards. I also knew that I needed an easy way to store the cards so that they would be available when I needed them. My office has a way of eating things that are not organized in some way.

After we got to 50 cards, I was satisfied that I would not be missing sending a card for a birthday or any other occasion for at least the next year! I even debated sending one of the funnier ones to my dad when I got home! We then headed to the office supply area where I looked for a way to organize all the cards. I wanted sections – like birthday, wedding and more – so that I could easily locate what I needed for each event in my friend’s lives. I also needed an area for stamps and pens since I can never find one when I need it!How to Remember to Send that Birthday Card for Under $1 a Card from Hallmark #SendSmiles #ad

I found a great see through accordion file that would easily slide onto my office shelf for easy access. I found chalk labels as well so that I could mark what the folder was with ease!

Fully equipped with what I needed to send that all important card to my friends and family on that special day, I headed home to organize. I sorted my cards by event, gender and size and put the in the compartment I wanted. I labeled the pockets, added my stamps and pen and laid the entire thing on my office bookshelf. Now when my phone app goes off to remind me of an important event, I have the most important gift of all! A card with a handwritten note, mailed with love, for under $1 total each with a stamp!
