This post was made possible through the support of Goodwill. All opinions are my own.
Since my separation and divorce, I have been on the mad purge of the house. Sort of an ‘out with the bad energy, in with the good’ cleaning that has gone on for several years now. I sold the old bedroom furniture, the old couches, almost all of the old furniture that was his mothers. I replaced it with items I liked and spent almost nothing. Shopping clearance sales and scratch and dent for the best deals. But some things I did not want to sell. I just wanted to donate it away. But where and how? As I was thinking it over I remembered that donating to Goodwill also helps create jobs in my community!
Now that I have seen the benefits and purging of items in my home, I am all ready for another round with Spring Cleaning this year! Since every item comes with a taxable write off value when I donate it to Goodwill, I am tracking and keeping tabs on what I am donating. From clothes to bikes to furniture I did not sell. I am all ready to get my home fresh and clean for the summer!
Goodwill has a wonderful tool to keep me on track with the #7DaysofSpringCleaning! Follow these easy steps and in one week, you will have a cleaner, less cluttered home and a receipt in your pocket that will prove you helped create jobs in your area and donated to those in need!
#7DaysofSpringCleaning Details
Goodwill is encouraging everyone to participate, if they like, in #7DaysofSpringCleaning by urging people to focus on cleaning different areas of their home for seven consecutive days. Here is how to get a fresh start:
Day 1) Clear your closet clutter
Day 2) Time to tackle the kitchen
Day 3) Spread holiday cheer (holiday decorations, center pieces, Halloween)
Day 4) Downsize your tech toys (used laptops)
Day 5) Clean out your office supplies
Day 6) Provide quality entertainment (unused movies, video games)
Day 7) Downsize your bookshelf
Then, calculate your donation impact.
Won’t it feel awesome to have it done?
