Living out on the semi-country on a large lot in a neighborhood that encourages activity has made my job as a mom who can get my kids outside easier. Walk outside my house and we have basketball goal, a trampoline, a long driveway and cul-de-sac perfect for bike riding and a lot of walking paths. But when the competition of television, tablets and phones come in it can be hard to get my kids outside to play. Now that springtime is upon us, it is time. It is time to put my mom foot down, to get them out of the house and soaking up the warm sunshine and to join them too. We all know that kids learn by example. Getting Kids Outside is as Easy as You Doing it Yourself! So as I tie on my Reebok Classics from DSW, I encourage my youngest to tie hers on too for a walk in the woods that can only lead to adventure!

I am an avid Crossfitter, as you all know. Though my kids get to go when they can, they really only get real exercise at school or when they play outside in the evening after school. Because, as a seasoned mom, I know that I can not tell my kids to do something unless I am willing to participate too, I have added a run around the 2 mile loop to our daily activity. I run/ walk and Megan rides her scooter. It encourages all of us to get out and get moving! It also really promotes family unity, which is really my main motivation.
Sometimes, when the loop gets boring, we break off and head into the walking path that takes us into the woods. We hook up one, or more, of our dogs on a leash, break off on our own and just walk. Along the way we get to know each other a little better. She tells me things that are hard for her to get in edgewise with two sisters around and I tell her how amazing I think she is.
It is exercise for the body and the emotional bond.
On days like that, where a leisurely walk is on the menu, we tie on our Reebok Classics and head out. I use these shoes for me every day life. I was privileged to get a super cute pink metallic shoe, which is all the rage these days, by the way, and Megan got some Classic White that will go with every outfit she owns!
These shoes are comfortable, lightweight and stylish and I love wearing them just to live life. The feel amazing and can handle all the days I spend on my feet with kids, walking the dogs and running errands. I just love them!
As Spring continues to bloom and I show my girls, by example, the beauty outside that just can’t be found in a phone or tablet, I soak up the life the girls and I live. Getting out, talking without distractions of rings and dings and finding the treasures that lay outside is just a fun and free family activity that can only strengthen the relationships within.
So if you are wanting the words, Go Outside, to actually mean something, het up too! Because Getting Kids Outside is as Easy as You Doing it Yourself!
