We have all heard the saying, Monkey See, Monkey Do! I know a parent had to have come up with it. My kids copy so much of what I do that it is almost comical. We have all witnessed it. One of our kids says something back to us that we didn’t think they heard. Their bad habits are your bad habits, ie: nail biting (guilty!!) or you notice them repeating your lessons to their friends. It is why experts tell parents over and over again to live a healthier life. Kids ARE watching. Even when we least expect it.
One lesson we all need to teach our kids is to apply sunscreen every single day. I am so bad about it for me, I won’t lie. I don’t remember wearing sunscreen as a child but then again, way back then, we didn’t know better. But we do now! I am making it a point this summer so that it becomes a natural habit all year long! How to get your kids to wear sunscreen can be as simple as your wearing it too!
With an average of 350 Americans diagnosed with skin cancer every HOUR, it is time we all pick it up and put it on! 99% of dermatologists agree that using sunscreen can help lower the risk of skin cancer. With only 1-2 sunburns in a lifetime increasing the risk by 40%, it is just smart to use it!
