Shara here once again with a fabulous review of the ERGO Baby Carrier. At almost 27 weeks pregnant, I am getting super excited!!! The Ergo baby carrier has even circled my ears so many times as a must have baby product. As a matter of fact, it’s award winning. How I wish I can post a picture on my newborn in the Ergo!!! In the meantime, here is my sister with her Ergo!
Ergo’s catch phrase is “Comfort through Ergonomics”. Looking up the word Ergonomics, I found the definition to be “the study of people’s efficiency in their working environment”. To me that means, how much a momma or poppa can get done doing what they need to do—all while taking care of their baby! Yes, we all love and care for our babies, but we all have so much to care of in one day! By “wearing” baby, you can give her the contact he/she craves and needs, all while handling everyday responsibilities. That means, answering email, talking on the phone, going to the post office, doing the laundry, going to the bank, walking around for groceries- the list goes on and on and on. Thank goodness this excellent product came along. I don’t know what Moms and Dads before it. I definitely consider myself a woman on the go, and this just sounds like a product made in the heavens!
I’ve seen countless men and women in NYC wear their babies with the Ergo baby carrier. Celebrities like Giselle, Ethan Hawke, Julia Roberts, Amanda Peet, Evangeline Lilly sport them all the time. Definitely a product carrying star power.
So , you can definitely consider the Ergo the “Mercedes Benz” of baby carriers. Expertly designed to distribute your baby’s weight between your shoulders and hips, so your back doesn’t hurt by “wearing baby”. I have heard many baby carrier that are just not comfortable at all! You can carry your newborn up into toddlerhood, There is no digging in shoulders, because shoulder straps are passed.. I read that the curved and padded waist strap is similar to the back protectors used by professional movers. After 9 months of carrying baby in utero- and back hurting day in and day out, this is music to my ears!
It’s made of a very plush and organic cotton and has a flexible feel to it- like it’s already been worn in for you. With some baby products, you need a degree in science to figure assembly out- but the Ergo has a detailed and simple instruction manual with photos. You can wear front, back, piggyback, or hip. It can handle a child up to 45 pounds. It has a front pocket that you can store your phone, wallet, keys, or things like that. I find that to be really awesome.
I hear that people don’t really even need a playpen, stroller, pack and play, etc because babies are so content in their Ergo! The babies are comfortable and their is even a hood to prevent them from being in the sun. A mom could easily breastfeed on the go, which is something very appealing to me. I can imagine going on beautiful long walks with baby girl :)
The Ergo gets an A plus on comfort and also great for the environment! Double score!! The Ergo won the “Moms Love-It” Award in association with What to Expect and Babies R Us. It retails for $114 on the Babies R Us website.
