I don’t live ‘in the country’, so to speak, but I am pretty close to it. I live in a town outside of Houston that is experiencing a boom of growth. However, in my little corner of it, sitting on an acre with cows in full view from the backyard with the fields in view, I feel like I have a more country and small town lifestyle than a city one. So, this year, I have decided to start planning my Country Christmas decor for my home early. Lucky for me, At Home Stores stock early so that I can get started now and be totally ready by the holidays!
Yesterday I hit the At Home Store near me. I discovered them about a year or so ago and, since then, they have been my decor superstore for everything holiday! They even have great furniture, everyday home decor items and those unique little things you just can’t find anywhere else.
So, as my assistant and I waffled between the Halloween and Holiday decorations that are high quality but low in price, we planned a mock mantle to start the Country Christmas tradition! I do a mock mantle every year because my house does not have a fireplace! Santa has to come through the door… poor guy.
It is HARD to choose when you are planning a house full of holiday! I already have traditional stocking for everyone in my family but it was super tempting not to purchase more as I walked through the aisles. The my eye settled on the perfect piece that I could decorate my mock mantle around. A fun and whimsical red truck with a trunk full of Christmas!
I LOVE this truck! With it in hand I could plan my mock mantle and have a ton of fun doing it too! Andy and I placed the truck on the ground and then split up looking for items that would make the truck stand out in a festive way on the mock mantle.
Adding to our treasures were a burlap runner, a super cute ladder, two country inspired presents and some ornaments that add to the flair. A little Santa to sit on the ladder and decorate the super cute burlap leaf tree we found, a reindeer to hold the ladder for Santa and a cowbell to add some country ambiance to the entire scene.
I also found some awesome country looking bottles that have battery operated lights in them to light up the scene on a dark night!
I love the beginnings of my mock mantle and can not wait to go back to the At Home Store to add more Country Christmas to my home!
