I am so very happy to have football back! Pizza and friends, cheers and jeers, and all around happy craziness usually ensue in my house!
We used to have season tickets to the Houston Texans. Back before kids and the incredible drain they make on disposable income! But we still watch them on TV. Don’t laugh at me, I am a Houston sports fan. Long suffering, rarely celebrating!
But, the day I most look forward to is College Football Saturday and watching my beloved University of Houston Cougars hit the gridiron with determination and pride! Dresses in red and white, the ceremonial singing of their school song always takes me back to tailgating Saturday afternoons at Robertson Stadium.
Cool breezes, great friends, and jumping up and down screaming with the cheerleaders as our team marched down the field! Until our girls are older, however, we are now homegaters!
In preparation for my new style of celebrating college football, homegating, I headed off to Walmart to stock up. They have everything I need to feed my guests and keep them cheering for my team!
I started in the pizza aisle – of course -and headed to one of my favorite, affordable brands, Tombstone. There is such a variety that i knew I could find one everyone would like! From cheese pizza to pepperoni, garlic bread pizza and thin crust, Tombstone has it all. Which is good, because I have some picky people coming to my house! KIDS!
I gathered enough pizza for everyone and then headed to get some more supplies for the big opening game!
Cookies, ingredients for Lori’s famous cheese dip, chips and even some sweet potato chips that looked (and were) super good! I made sure I got my Clear American Sparkling Water, snacks for the kiddos (which we never even needed because they gobbled up the pizza), watched as the groceries were “sacked” (snicker snicker), and we headed home!
I popped 3 pizzas in the oven, made my cheese dip, and poured chips in the bowls as guests started to arrive. No one followed my instructions to wear red – they will be flogged – but they all showed up with empty bellies and voices to cheer!
You can see my whole shop and party pics here!
Everyone loved the food and goodies, my team won, and the day was so much fun! I can not wait to do it all again next weekend!
