Tomorrow my kids are headed to college. OK, not tomorrow but in about 10 years. If they fly as fast as their childhoods have, it will be tomorrow. Care packages are an amazing things for any student. While I worked and went to college as opposed to being in a dorm, I remember little things that were given to me to help me out a little. Some things worked, some didn’t. The most important things to put in a care package are personal care items and food! Like Schick® Disposable Razors, toothpaste, snack sized foods and more!

Find a Sturdy Box

Find a box that can be posed and decorated to match your child’s school colors! Use tissue paper and filler in the same color to balance items in the box. Tie a ribbon around it like a present. Then pack it in another box, use newspaper or even toilet paper rolls to make it stand still, and to add to the essentials element, and then ship it them!

Add Items that Matter

College kids may head off to college with everything they need but by week 1, they have lost half of it! If they are in a dorm with a shared shower, I imagine forgotten razors, toothpaste and hairbrushes get lost quickly. So make sure to put the best things in the package! Like 4 packs of Schick® Disposable Razors! With new scented handles, easy glide technology and fun colors, they will be a hit with any college student! Find a variety at Walmart!

Food, Glorious Food

As nice as it is to add some homemade cookies, college kids like snack foods, and lots of it. Think small, throw in my backpack because I overslept and am late for class snacks. Small cereal boxes, fruit snacks and granola bars will be a hit. For movie night, send a huge box of popcorn that they can share with their dorm mates! You can’t go wrong here as long as it is portable and shareable!

Add a Personal Touch

A small stuffed animal, a card or a hand written note can add to the personal aspect of the box! Plus, when that child who is used to you being around all day is lonely late at night, they can look at it and feel the love from far away!
