A few weeks ago Cinderella was released from the vault after 7 long years and available on the shelves of Walmart again! We, as a house full of little princesses, could not have been more excited! In fact, we were so excited that I planned a Princess day complete with a Cinderella Retailtainment event at Walmart and a viewing party at our house of the movie on Blu-Ray DVD!
To gear up for the mood of the day, the kids spent a good deal of time playing the Royal Ball App on my iPhone and our tablets. Yep, it is available in both the Apple Store and Android form. And it is SO cute! It allows my girls to dress up as a Princess, dance on the castle floors and even dress up their carriage! In addition, as an augmented reality app, you can point it at certain things in Walmart – like the DVD – and up pops a 3D image that can be played with and viewed! Like the hidden carriage that comes up from the DVD!
The girls can also take photos of themselves and send them out via email and social media sites! It is a popular app in our home and is a lot of fun for all three of my kids! See my whole shop and more about the App in my Google + Story!
I got the girls up that morning and dressed them head to toe in Princess gear! Crowns, wands and more sparkled as Cinderella, Snow White and Arial pranced to the car in anticipation of a fun event at Walmart. We got there, and despite my call to confirm the event a few days before, were met with dead stares at the mere mention of it. My store was on the list for the event hosts but no one knew a thing about it. And we were not the only ones there specifically for the event. The girls were sad and a I was very disappointed for them. Luckily, every customer paid so much attention to my heel clomping little ones that they felt special.
We tried to get the app to work for a while – we could only get a 3D world with the movie – and then I let the girls pick out a Cinderella toy each to thank them for being so patient!
Armed with baby blue, we headed home to prepare for our Cinderella viewing party! The girls excitement amplified as I iced the cupcakes, made the cheese dip and loaded the Blu-Ray DVD for viewing. And when their friends started to arrive, their disappointment over the failed retailtainment event faded!
Little princesses – and a prince – swooshed through the house in dresses, happily snacked on sandwiches and sweets and dug through goodie bags with glee! And when it was time for the classic movie, we all marveled at how clear and crisp the movie was.
Pick up your Cinderella Blu-Ray DVD at Walmart now and have a movie night with your little ones. But you had better hurry… the movie will disappear soon…
