I received Beauty and the Beast 25th Anniversary edition to review. All opinions belong to Adelina from Home Maid Simple.
Tale as old as time. Song as old as rhyme. Beauty and the Beast. My absolute favorite Disney Classic was released for its 25th Anniversary today!
Today, September 20th, Beauty and the Beast is 25 years old, and you can own this classic on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Belle personified everything I wanted in life. A love of reading. An adventure. And a love story that included the biggest library and probably the most beautiful dress of any Disney Princess.
As women, we tend to always be looking for a Feminine heroine, but I say we’ve always had one in Belle. She took care of herself and her father. She was able to use wit and common sense to rebuff the self-centered Gaston, and when someone was in trouble – it wasn’t her! Belle came to the rescue of her father, and like any true hero gave up her life for his.
We enjoyed a nice evening watching Beauty and the Beast with the kids, and then spent a fair amount of time enjoying the special features as well! There’s an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming Live-Action Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson playing Belle. It’s not quite the voice of Paige O’Hara, but after watching the previews I know Disney made a great choice!
Another feature our whole family loved was The Recording Sessions! When Beauty and the Beast had first been created they also filmed the actors giving voice, and oh it is a treat! Watching the facial expressions and how those were incorporated over into the animated characters makes the movie come alive.
Did you know, there is a line Cogsworth (David Ogden Stiers) improvised on the spot, and it was so good, they kept it! I won’t tell you what it was because he’s got a lot of good little lines, but I will tell you I think it’s one of the best in the whole movie.
What are you waiting for?! Go grab your copy of Beauty and the Beast’s 25th Anniversary Edition today, and start planning your weekend movie night.
