Don't forget these 5 Things to Pack for Mom on a Vacation

There I was, in the middle of a theme park, three kids posing in front of the entrance and I can barely see them through the camera. My eyes were itchy, my nose was running and I couldn’t stop sneezing. Allergies stink. I don’t have them very often but when I do, I want them under control quickly. On this day, as a single mom with three kids in tow who wanted to experience everything magical about the place, I had nothing to help me combat the symptoms. The change in climate had kicked off one of the worst allergy attacks I had ever had. Worst of all, I had no allergy medication in my luggage, my purse or anywhere else. All I could think was that I wished I had my Xyzal® Allergy 24HR, which is available over the counter at CVS. I hadn’t packed it. A typical mom, I was so busy packing the kids and making sure that they had everything that I had left some very important things out of my bag. So, having lived through that experience, I made a list of 5 Things to Pack for Mom on Vacation and I am keeping it in my suitcase for my next trip!

These 5 Things to Pack for Mom on a Vacation may seem easy to remember but I forgot them all

Allergy Medication

As I said, I do not have allergy symptoms very often. I have them when the seasons change, when I don’t sleep well and when I travel to drier climates. Here in Texas, the air is generally humid. But if I leave the state, I almost always am dealing with the symptoms that drive me crazy. So first on my list is Xyzal® Allergy 24HR. Now available at CVS in 10 count, 35 count, 55 count and 80 count, Xyzal® Allergy 24HR offers 24 hour relief of those symptoms that almost ruined my day! Sneezing, runny nose – especially when I tried to sleep. THAT was the worst – itchy and watery eyes and a itchy throat. This full prescription strength allergy medication is clinically proven relief in 60 minutes. I could have really used that at the theme park. So now, it is on the permanent pack list no matter what! Read the product label before use.

Lady Items

How many times have we ladies been caught in that situation where we don’t have what we need on the day we need it. Even if that time of the month is not supposed to come, always have lady items with you in your suitcase. As a lady of almost 45, my cycle has become increasingly unpredictable. There is nothing worse that hunting down what you need when you are on vacation!

Books

Now this may seem like a no-brainer for me, an avid reader, but the fact is that I got so wrapped up in packing books and things for the kids that I left my books out completely. So I am on the plane, my game lives out and no way to get more and I have nothing to do but look at the plane magazine. The hotel was worse, as nothing was available to pass the time while the kids were reading. So this goes on my list as an often forgotten item!

Pajamas

Yea. I was not going to mention this one until I realized that I have forgotten my own PJ’s more than once. I don’t know what the block is but somehow I can pack three kids for days of fun and then walk out without one single pair of pajamas for myself. I do it with socks too and it drives me mad. So my pajamas are definitely on the list!

These 5 Things to Pack for Mom on a Vacation are imperative to a good time!

Backpack

Years ago, when the kids were little, I did a trip with three kids and a carry on that I had to roll. HUGE mistake. The next trip I switched to a backpack for my carry on and life got a lot easier! It was especially helpful at the theme park when I was getting on and off rides, holding everything the kids wanted me to hold and navigating buses along the way!

There you have it. My list of what Moms need when traveling with kids!
