Maui, Hawaii – Friday, April 15, 2016: Ziplining for Columbia Pictures and Rovio Animations’ ANGRY BIRDS Maui Zipline.
These are all words that filtered through my head as I got to Fly Like and Angry Bird over the lush landscape of Maui with the Maui Zipline Company. The best part, though, is that Red, Chuck and Bomb from The Angry Birds Movie hitting theaters May 20, 2016 joined us too! Well, they were on the ground supervising our flying lessons, because they can’t fly, you know, but they helped us gear up and flap our wings like pros as we Zipline Maui!
I have been ziplining before and I absolutely love it. The thrill of flying through the air, wind in your face, seemingly free, is just amazing. But to be able to Zipline over the green, lush landscape of Maui was a real thrill. However, when you go ziplining, you want to go with a reputable company that knows what they are doing. With Maui Zipline Company, you get professional guides with fun personalities and a serious dedication to safety!
The entire process, from getting into my gear to flying down the lines, was organized, reassuring and a lot of laughs. Our guides were born and raised in Maui and clearly loved their island and their jobs! We even got a vegetation lesson on the way to the launch towers from one of our guides! I have to say, the knowledge they have of every plant, tree, island and spot to see was awesome. I even took some of their advice and went on my own little drive later in the trip!
Back to learning how to fly, Angry Bird style!
On the ‘practice run’, I had to get my wings back. This short line is great for getting rid of those fears and apprehensions and remembering not to look down. But by the 3rd and 4th lines, which are longer than the first, I was flapping away happily in my best Angry Bird impression! I even let go of the handle and flapped my way in for a final landing after the 5th line, which was 1000 ft long.
We only had time for 5 lines but Maui Zipline Company has many more. This is an excursion in Maui that is completely worth the time, effort and experience.
