I am screaming uber cool on this one, I type as I sip my Black Currant and Pear carbonated beverage I made AT HOME!   Yes, I know you are all asking, “What?”,  “How?”, “Where”?

Let’s start at the beginning!

I was the very lucky recipient of the SodaStream Genesis Soda Maker about a week ago!  In my box was the SodaStream, a carbonation cartridge, two one liter bottles and enough syrup, in various flavors, to keep me supplied for a very long time!  Seriously, one large bottle of Cola makes 25 servings or 6 liters.  And I got the Sampler pack of syrups that come in the SodaStream and a bonus gift of 3 bottles of MyWater sparkling water flavors!

I opened the package, pulled out the Carbonation canister, easily slid it into the chamber and attached the chamber to the base.  I then filled up one of the one liter bottles with water!  I screwed that bottle into the ‘tap’ and then pumped the suggested carbonation into the water!  I added the syrup, shook the liter, gave it a minute – I did NOT do this the first time – and then poured myself a soda.

It took a batch or two to get the right syrup amount for my taste but I found it hard to tell the difference between what I buy at the store and what I just made in my kitchen!

So, for a week or so, I have been playing with the myriad of flavors that SodaStream has to offer!  Though what I have barely even touches the selection!  I can’t pick a favorite, but I can say that the Cola, Root Beer and Apple & Mango are among my favorites.  They even have teas you can turn into sparkling beverages!  Dr Pete, Diet Lemon Lime, Orange, Diet Pink Grapefruit and even an Energy drink are all included in the sample pack too!

The great thing about the SodaStream is that kids can use it too!  My girls are still a little young but if you have an older child who loves their afternoon soda, eliminate wasted open cans everywhere by letting them make just a liter a day!  Plus, if your kids like different flavors, you don’t have to haul multiple heavy bottles back and forth!  Just get the different syrups.  They will not know the difference!

This thing is great!  And I love mine very much!  So does my husband!  Even he, being the pickiest person I know, could not tell much difference in the brands at the store and the SodaStream flavors!
