My kids have loved books from the time they could sit up on our laps and read with us. I loved reading with them, especially books from when I was a child. Want to know a secret? I love pop-up books, and I passed that love onto them. Everything is digital these days.

The Jungle Book in 3D

I was very happy when I heard about a new digital pop up book, StoryToys’ “The Jungle Book” 3D Interactive Pop-Up Book, available for ios and android. I had no idea how they’d be able to make it work. We couldn’t wait to check it out.

I first sat down with my youngest son. From the minute the program opened, he loved it. There are a few options on how to enjoy the book. For the younger kids, the book will read to them, or you can choose the option for the child to read on their own. We watched as the story of Mowgli unfolded before our eyes. It really felt like a pop-up book. The images came to life as we read.

One of the coolest parts? There are mini-games within the story. We helped build fires, and helped a tiger remove thorns from his paws.   This kept the kids interested and they helped move the story along.

Josh was having so much fun that my 10 year olds asked when their turn to read the book was. They took turns with the book for much of the afternoon. We took the book along with us when we met with some of our younger friends later in the day. I can assure you, it was a big hit with the 2 and 3 year old set too!
