This DVD series has faithful adaptations and celebrity narrations and has won hundreds of awards and sold more than 2.5 million videos. I absolutely love the DVD’s from Scholastic Storybook Treasures. I have my 7 year old read the books to her younger brother before they watch and them watch them light up as they see it on TV.
My kids were so excited when we received it and couldn’t wait to have a “movie night” to watch their first Christmas video of the year! Merry Christmas, Splat…by Rob Scotton, did not disappoint! In this adorable story, Splat is trying hard to be good before Santa arrives (sound familiar??? My kids are doing that exact thing!). My children thought this was cute cute cute!!!
This DVD also included:
Fletcher and the Snowflake Christmas, written by Julia Rawlinson, illustrated by Tiphanie Beeke, and narrated by Katherine Kellgren. It’s Christmas Eve and Fletcher wonders how Santa will find his burrow through all the snow.
Snowflake Bentley, written by Jacqueline Briggs Martin, illustrated by Mary Azarian, and narrated by Sean Astin. Willie Bentley loved and learned all about snowflakes!
Owl Moon, written and narrated by Jane Yolen, illustrated by John Schoenherr. A girl and her father search the moonlit woods for the Great Horned Owl in this carefully animated adaptation of a classic children’s picture book.
My 2 little ones snuggled up together in my sons bed to watch this. They were so cozy, quiet and watched intently. They each had their own favorite on the DVD. Sophie, my 7 yr old, loved Owl Moon. Max loved Splat (I think because he understood so well the “trying to behave before Santa comes!!!).
