I saw on the news this evening a report about flu season.  They reported that thought it seems to many of us that is should be close to over, because of the mild temperatures and unseasonable weathers, it is still on its way!  That pressed me to rejuvenate my creativity in getting healthy Florida Orange Juice into my family.

As discussed in my last Florida Orange Juice post, you can get a coupon book from your Safeway and Safeway affiliates called “Be Well. Save Well.” that not only has coupons for 100% Florida Orange Juice but other cold and flu season essentials as well!  Plus recipes and tips on how to stay well!

With that inspiration I decided to see if my kids would drink some orange juice smoothies!  Not only can I ‘sell’ them as ice cream shakes, but I can add different fruits and flavors to keep them interested.

Since two of my kids adore banana’s and the all love orange juice, I decided to start simple with an Orange Juice and Banana Smoothie.  It is so easy and makes in just moments.  So tonight after dinner, the kids and I took 10 minutes and made some delicious smoothies! I’ve has this recipe in my cabinet for years but I see it all of the time online as well.

Orange Juice and Banana Smoothie

1 Cup of 100% Florida Orange Juice
1 Cup of Banana
1 Cup of Yogurt (you can use Orange Yogurt to bring out the OJ flavor)
1 Cup of Ice

Put it in the blender, add some banana slices for fun, and serve them up!

My kids really loved them and I loved that they had the Vitamin C they needed in a quick, easy treat!

Check out the process below:

My next idea is to freeze the smoothies and serve them as a Popsicle!  And then maybe add some blueberries, strawberries, pineapples, mint… oh, the options are endless!

What are your ideas to get more 100% Florida Orange Juice into your meals and treats?
