SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE! And though I am excited to kick the school year schedule to the curb, I am also well aware that I will be shuttling my kids to friend’s houses, art camp, Vacation Bible School and more! So I am still in need of quick and easy meals that my kids will eat and love!
But in the interest of speed I don’t want to forget about nutrition. My kids – and I – will still need to eat our vegetables enjoy our protein and fill our bellies with good things! But in a seriously collapsed amount of time. So when I roll through the grocery aisles, kids hanging on my basket, pointing out every fattening sugar filled item they want me to buy, I am always thrilled to find healthy eating options in instant meal packaging.
Luckily, Tyson Grilled and Ready Chicken Strips are an awesome delicious and healthy food to have in my freezer to toss into a pasta dish, salad or tortilla for that fast and easy, healthier meal! And since my kids LOVE “white chicken”, as they call it, it is an easy sale to them.

After getting our standard fruits and veggies for the house, I headed to the frozen foods section. I love frozen foods for storage and convenience but I find that a lot of it can be quite unhealthy. So I was excited to see an entire section of a frozen food bin stocked with Tyson Frozen Grilled and Ready Chicken Strips! I looked around for a little bit and did not see many competing items from other brands. I know I have seen them, but they were not to be found on this day! There were just too many awesome varieties of the Tyson products!
As I looked through the selection, the Southwestern Flavored Chicken Strips gave me an idea! Why not create a light version of my favorite Southwestern Chicken Alfredo for dinner?
I grabbed the strips, swung back by the veggie aisle to get some broccoli and then headed to the pasta aisle. I found a light version of an Alfredo sauce and some angel hair pasta that I knew would cook super fast!
As I checked out, I swung by and picked up more Tyson Grilled and Ready Chicken Strips. You can never have too many in a busy household, in my opinion!
Later at home, true to form, time got away from us playing in the front yard, laughing with the neighbors and shooting baskets. Before I knew it, it was 6:30 and my kids had not eaten! I needed something FAST!
I pulled out my Tyson Southwestern Grilled and Ready chicken strips and threw some in a pan I had sprayed with cooking spray. I filled a pot and added my angel hair pasta to cook. I then chopped up some broccoli. When the chicken was mostly warm – it took about 4 minutes – I tossed in the broccoli. A few minutes later, the pasta was al dente so I drained it and tossed it into my pan with the southwest chicken and broccoli.
WOW- what a delicious fast and easy dish! The chicken, simply warmed in a pan, was juicy and had a little southwest kick. It was not dry- one of my biggest pet peeves with chicken – and was easy to cut with a fork. My kids LOVED it and even ate all of their broccoli because it had the light sauce on it!
And I was patting myself on the back for getting a healthy, fast and easy meal from bag to table in less than 10 minutes!
We all lack for time so anything that is high quality and can help us make great meals for our family is AWESOME! Next time you are at Walmart, pick up all of the varieties of Tyson Grilled and Ready Chicken! What recipes would you make with it?
