Halloween is just around the corner and no matter what I say, my kids are asking daily if it is time to trick or treat. So coming up with fun, Halloween themed, things to do is important!

What you need:

To make – start by tearing or cutting the orange tissue paper into small pieces in random shapes and sizes. We started by tearing it, but found cutting it to be easier. Apply a small amount of Mod Podge to the glass jar, and place the tissue paper pieces on top. I worked in small areas at a time, regularly applying the Mod Podge. Once the jar is completely covered in tissue, make sure there is a decent layer of Mod Podge on the whole thing. Once this was completely dry, I applied more Mod Podge and applied some green tissue paper around the top rim. I let this dry for 24 hrs, then added the face with the sharpie. Place a battery tea light inside and you are done!

Some tips to help: As I mentioned, we found it was easier to cut the tissue paper rather than tear it. Either way works.

I didn’t matter much how heavy the tissue paper was applied. The tea light still shown through even on the jars that had a few layers of tissue paper.  It was easier for the kids to place the jars on top of something while they worked on them. A few aerosol cans worked well for us.

I just want to add that this is the first time I ever worked with Mod Podge. As a mom who loves to do crafts with the kids, I really don’t know why I’ve never used this stuff before. It’s AMAZING.  SO easy to use, so versatile, and SO easy to clean up!!  I will be using this a lot more in the near future. Also, I will be sure to save ALL my glass jars now, because there is no limit to what you can do with some Mod Podge and tissue paper!
