I love DVD collections.  The ones that have more than one story, more than one theme and a whole host of characters to educate and entertain my family.

Caldecott Favorites is a 20 story collection on 3 DVD’s with narrations by Laura Dern and John Lithgow and many others.  Within the three DVD set are Scholastic Storybook Treasures that are all winners of the Caldecott Medal.  The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

Scholastic has brilliantly taken 20 story books and animated them on three classic DVD’s.

In The Ezra Jack Keats Collection, seven stories teach and entertain my kids.  From The Snowy Day where Peter is excited about his adventures that follow when snow falls on the city to The Trip, where a move to a new neighborhood scares Louie until he enters a magical world in his imagination and flies back to his old home, every story is told and able to be read along to on screen as well!

Another Read Along DVD – my new favorite way to show my kids movies – that is included in this three DVD set is Make Way for Ducklings.  In this DVD that features animals, your kids can hear and read the stories of The Ugly Duckling,  Angus and the Ducks and The Story About Ping.  They can watch as Winnie accidentally goes on a hot air balloon ride with a sly fox!  Sensible Harriet tries to rescue her and a fun time ensues.  This great story is a favorite of my children!

The third Read Along DVD in this award winning set is Antarctic Antics.  My kids laugh out loud at Bark, George!  This is the story of a dog who can’t seem to bark!  Instead he quacks and oinks and makes noises that other animals should be making!  In addition, this 7 story DVD includes In the Small, Small Pond (my favorite colorful and creatively told story) and The Hat – a story about a magical hat!

My kids never bore of these low key, fun to watch and read along to DVD’s.  It is a wonderful way to introduce kids to 20 classic stories and hone their love for reading and literature!  Take a moment to see why all three of these DVD’s are Caldecott Medal and Caldecott Honor Winners!

As an added bonus, there are three episodes; The Snowy Day, Whistle for Willie and Make Way for Ducklings that are available in Spanish read along too!  My kids have seen all three and are picking up on Spanish words as a result!

Take a moment to check out these fantastic award winning DVD’s at Scholastic.com or NewKideo.com!  These DVD’s would make a wonderful teacher’s gift, gift for children who may need help reading or just anyone who loves quality children’s entertainment!

And because everyone should have a chance to see these DVD’s for themselves, one (1) of my readers will WIN a copy of Caldecott Favorites!  Just click [continue reading] for easy Rafflecopter entry:
