Go bananas with this delicious summer treat for everyone on the go! We do a lot summer activities and no matter how short or long we are gone, I can always expect to hear “I am hungry.” Something about being in the car makes my tots want to eat; and keeping snacks with me is a must.  I whipped up these banana fruit bars with a few simple ingredients to create a fulfilling, tasty treat using Soom Pure Sesame Butter.

Just last week I was talking to another health-minded mom who often slips pureed veggies in her meals.  We started discussing Soom products and how to incorporate their smooth, creamy sesame butter into a multitude of recipes.  Soom products are gluten free, vegan, protein-packed, fiber-containing versatile ingredients; and also provide essential vitamins and minerals.  Making such a healthy recipe for my children made me feel better, knowing exactly what they were eating.  They love the flavors and ease of grabbing a “mom-approved” snack. We simply packed each on in a snack  baggie and took them to the park, baseball games and gymnastics.

Banana Fruit Bars with Soom Pure Sesame Butter
Recipe type: Snack
  • 3 Cups Quick Oats
  • 1 Cup Soom Sesame Butter
  • 1 Cup Banana Chips, dried
  • 1 Large Banana, Sliced
  • ¼ Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Egg White
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • ¼ Cup Honey
  • ¾ Cup Applesauce
  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees
  2. Mash the banana and add sesame butter, oats, banana chips, cinnamon,egg white, vanilla, honey and applesauce.
  3. Continue to blend well until the "dough" is in a ball.
  4. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out to ¼ inch thick and cut into bars using a knife.
  5. Place each bar on a wax paper lined cookie sheet, sprayed with non-stick oil.
  6. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes or until edges become golden brown.
  7. Cool completely.
  8. Store in individual baggies for quick snack on the go!

This fun “energy” bar provides a boost of vitamins and minerals with a taste that we can all “go bananas” over!  This treat will definitely come in handy during our family hikes and camping trips.  Enjoying such a healthy snack together makes this mom really feel like I have done something right.  Next time we make these fruit bars,  I might even add some raisins, cranberries or dried blueberries to the mix!  Who knows, perhaps we will indulge with some chocolate chips; the possibilities are endless.  We cannot wait to create more recipes using Soom Sesame Butter; with its unique consistency, rich and smooth textures, we will be eating it all summer long!
