Babies, babies, babies. No matter how old I get or how busy I am, I will stop everything to celebrate the arrival of a sweet baby! I love getting calls that my friends are expecting or that one of my neighbor’s children is having another grand baby. It is exciting and life affirming and wonderful! But my favorite is when a family member calls. When I was told about a year or so ago that my youngest brother and his wife were expecting their first child, I was over the moon! My brothers and I only reconnected a year or so ago after 34 years, as you may recall, so the pending arrival of a new family member was exciting and fun! I instantly predicted it to be a boy and packed up a fun bathtub basket for them in celebration. I was right and little baby boy joined my family almost 3 months ago! While I have yet to get up to see him in person, I am always printing photos of him and thinking of him when I am shopping. So while at Sam’s Club the other day, when seeing that Huggies Snug and Dry had the massive packs, 240 in the size 3’s I bought, I picked on up deciding a celebratory, I am easy baby gift basket was due!

When my girls were babies I always bought the bulk boxes at Sam’s Club. Let’s face it, diapers are the most used item for babies. So being able to buy hundreds at a time on one box at a fraction of the cost of a lot of individual packs was awesome. I loved that I could get the smaller sizes for my tiny girls, like 1’s and 2’s, but that the larger sizes of 3, 4 and 5 were available as my girls grew. I also loved the Sam’s Club Pick Up service. It is great when you have sleeping children and need to run by the store but not get them out of the car! Sam’s brings your order right to you! Plus, with my membership, I saved over $10 on my purchase!

Now that baby boy is inching closer to the larger size, I figured it high time his favorite aunt – I may have decided that all on my own – get him the bulk box so he has some on hand when he needs them! Being prepared is key, right moms? As an experienced mom, I choose Huggies Snug & Dry because I know that they provide up to 12 hours of protection to keep him dry. This is a benefit to baby and mommy!

With his 6 months birthday coming up faster than you can say teething, little baby boy will be starting to sit, putting a lot more in his mouth and smiling non stop. He will also be splashing in the tub and entertaining his parents even more so than he does now! So he needs safe things to do this with. His mom is going to be surprised at how quickly those ‘little things’ can pile up and make a home seem overwhelmed. So I had the idea of taking a plain old laundry basket and creating a temporary toy basket that could house all those little things that get scattered.

With a little creativity, this laundry basket toy basket serves many purposes. Mommy can keep the ribbon on and toss stuffed animals, blankets and other little things she needs in reach to love her baby or she can remove the ribbon and use it for it’s intended purpose. Either way I think it is too fun and the perfect wrapping for some necessities, like Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, bath towels, little bath chew books – gotta start his love for books early! – ducks for the bath and a warm blanket to snuggle in when he is all clean.

I also added some toys and stuffed every empty area with Huggies Snug & Dry diapers. I will say, only one pack from the box fit and barely, so the other two will just be shipped as it. But mommy is going to have size 3 when she needs them and they will last a while!

OK, only the Easy and Cute Gift Basket!

You will need:

A laundry basket with openings
Thick ribbon in any color that you can weave through
Good double sided tape or some glue (I used to tape to save time on the glue drying)
Scissors

I used three of the same color and texture ribbon. I thought incorporating dots was cute and chose the larger dots and smaller. Be sure you buy enough to go around your basket how ever many times you need it to.

Starting at the bottom, I weaved the ribbon in and out of the slots. When I was overlapping, I cut the ribbon, attached a piece of tape and got ready to weave another ribbon of the same way above it. Make sure that when you weave, you do the opposite pattern that you did with the first one. Not only does this stop the second layers from collapsing on the first but it creates a real weave look.

I steadily wove the ribbon into the slots and watched the basket come to life! Once I was done I layered as many diapers as I could half way up. I then added the blankets, towels toys and even a sweet little sign that she can hang in his room. I used more diapers to make the items stand up and really give it a ‘finished’ look!

It really is a super cute and easy way to present multiple gifts to a mom in a creative way! In fact, my neighbor stopped by and saw it and told me how much she would have loved this when her twins were babies!
