Despite my baking frenzy that I have been in lately, I am still trying to make better decisions about what I am putting into my body. One of my favorite new to me foods is Steel Cut Oats! I find them in the Natural Food section at the grocery store but you can also buy them online. These are totally unprocessed oats. The only ingredient is Steel Cut Oats. They are the oat before they process and smash them into the oatmeal we are all used to. Since getting them, I have been trying them a lot of different ways. One of my favorite so far is Apple and Pear Crock Pot Steel Cut Oats!

The recipe is simple. N0w, I have been trying to use the Stevia I received in bulk last year so I used 5 drops of liquid Vanilla Stevia in place of honey or more Maple Syrup in this recipe (about a tablespoon if you use it). Stevia is a much  more concentrated sweetener but is a healthier alternative to sugars, brown sugars and other sugars you want to try.

I did not peel my apples and pears and I did accidentally miss the six hour window, but aside from some burning on the edges, the oats came out creamy, delicious and easy to eat. They fill you up and give you the energy you need to get through those busy mornings!
