The lazy days of summer are passing quickly and only a few weeks stand between us and the first day of school. I am in heavy planning mode, cleaning out closets, having the girls try on shoes and hunting that coveted last school supply that no one ever seems to be able to find. I am also stocking up on family favorites that my kids can enjoy when they get home from school. While my mom generally had cookies or some other sweet for me to enjoy, I like to give my kids power foods that help them recharge with the energy they need for homework and after school activities. Fresh fruit from Walmart is always on my list. But the kids sometimes want something more as well. So I toss together my After School Snack Mix at least once every few days for them to enjoy. This works especially well on my Goldfish Cracker After School Mix. She can snack and see messages like, ‘You’ve got this!’ and ‘I am proud of how hard you work!’ as she completes her homework.
By making these bags ahead of time and having them for the kids to grab out of the snack basket, along with their fruit, I can pay attention to helping them get through the rest of the day instead of running around the kitchen trying to find that perfect snack!

- Mix whatever portion of Goldfish crackers into a bowl with the marshmallows and chocolate chips. Meanwhile, print out encouraging messages on your round labels. Stuff the baggies with the mix and tie a ribbon around the top. Place a label on each bag!
I found my baggies with the sturdy bottom at Walmart while shopping for Goldfish crackers and the other things I needed for my After School Snack Mix. Since Goldfish crackers are now on Rollback at Walmart for only $5.98 for the bulk container, I stocked up!
