There are some really wonderful children’s books available these days. Books that educate, encourage the use of imagination and stay with a child for years to come. But there is no way I could find them all on my own. So I am always honored when creative, high quality books are brought to my attention!
Like Adventures at Walnut Grove: A Lesson About Teasing, the first five star rated children’s book in a series of three by Dana Lehman publishing. In the book we follow Sammy the Squirrel who has lots of friends. But there was an incident in Sammy’s life where he was teased for being a little different and it was painful. We follow Sammy and his friends as they learn a valuable lesson about treating other animals with respect, not calling names and not teasing.
Join Sammy and friends as they play Walnut Ball, swim in Paradise Pond and build friendships that last a lifetime. I love that there is a parent involved in this story and I love that every step in the learning process for the characters is talked about in detail. So many books leave inferred ideas and I am a huge fan in that this one lets my Kindergartner read it and understand the entire process of the lesson!
Check out this wonderful video on YouTube about this book:
The lesson plan includes Skill Highlights, Math, Science and other subject ideas, craft ideas for preschool to the second grade age levels and coloring pages! These lesson plans are fantastic and help hit home the importance of being true to you and not judging and teasing others! This is a great feature and I love that is it is free!
Take a moment to read about the books that Lehman Publishing offers and get your copy of Adventures at Walnut Grove: A Lesson About Teasing too!
And because the author of the book, Dana Lehman is so generous, ONE of my readers can win a copy of this fantastic book this week! Next week she’ll give away the second in the series, I DOUBLE Dare You! – another Mom’s Choice Awards Recipient and the following week the third in the series, I Can Do It.
