**I am being compensated for this post by “Cans Get You Cooking” for my participation in this campaign. See more details below.**
As a busy mom of three girls who are all in school, in gymnastics and super picky about what they eat, I am all about fast and easy recipes. As a mom who watches her budget, I am a huge promoter of easy meals with the least amount of ingredients. and meals that I always have the ingredients on hand for. Things that are not going to go bad if my week gets crazy, plans change and I have to make the meal I planned for Monday on Saturday. I always have a large supply of canned foods on hand for just those occasions. Whether I need them to throw in the crock pot with a whole chicken or a bunch to toss in for my Campfire Chili, canned foods can enhance any meal in a hurry! Just like my super easy 4 Ingredient Chicken and Rice Casserole, that I actually got off of the back of a can, cans make the meal in a hurry with flavor and ease.
Everything from canned soups to broths to beans to veggies are in my pantry. In fact, I have an entire shelf that has anything I need that I can quickly access to make a meal in a hurry. A can of soup over rice is easy, a can of soup in a casserole is flavorful and canned tomatoes can spruce up any sauce!
See how 2 cans can make a chicken casserole pop with this easy recipe!
- 1 14.6 ounce can mixed vegetables
- 1 10.75 ounce can cream of mushroom soup
- ¾ cup uncooked rice
- 4 chicken breasts or tenders, uncooked
- Mix the can of veggies, soup and rice in a bowl. Pour in a casserole dish. Top with chicken. You can salt and pepper for flavor! Bake 45 minutes at 400 degrees, covered.
Aside from being a staple that should be in any pantry, Cans Get You Cooking also has a NEW app for us!
This month, Cans Get You Cooking is going mobile … mobile gaming that is! The campaign partnered with Zynga’s hit mobile game, FarmVille 2: Country Escape. New in-game features allow you to harvest fruits and vegetables…and then can your harvest to lock in freshness, flavor and nutrition! In addition, you can also create recipes, which can then, in turn, be canned. FarmVille 2 is a one-of-a-kind learning experience, which allows you to interact with game characters to learn more about Cans Get You Cooking and the benefits of canned foods and the canning process. But be sure to can while you can. The Cans Get You Cooking gaming features can be seen from now through October 5.
The app can be downloaded here: http://zynga.tm/t3Hs.
