Can you believe it’s time to start thinking about Easter Baskets already! Have you ever noticed how much candy is a part of our holiday celebrations? YumEarth is my preferred candy maker for treats the kids love and I can feel good about filling their Easter Baskets with.
I have fond memories of Easter rolling around, and going on egg hunts. Filling my basket with all kinds of jelly beans, gummies, and chocolate. We’d then stake our claim on the floor to open the eggs and hope someone would trade with us. Rarely did our Easter Baskets contain anything other than sugary candy. My parents didn’t even try to limit how much we ate.
These days, with 1 child who would attempt to live off sugar, I can’t do that. We’ve really had to limit our treats in the house, so if hunger strikes he must eat something better for him. On top of that, our tv tends to be on more than I’d like as I work and go to school from my couch.
This easter I decided was gong to be different. I can’t forgo the treats, but I knew I could give them goodies that were better than our old standby’s. With YumEarth, we’re doing just that. I even went against my better judgment and got the Organic Lollipops! See I’m a non-sucker mom after dealing with too many sticks stuck to the bottom of my purse and living room carpet. These are so-o-o incredibly good, though, I may have got them for my personal stash. Hey, mom needs a treat too!
You already know how much we love the YumEarth Gummy Bears, so I got a package of those and thought we’d try the Sour Beans as well. The single packets of both fit perfectly into an Easter Egg. You could also skip the eggs completely and just put the packages in as a nice filler opposed to that fake grass filler – raise your hand if you hate that as much as I do!
What else can you put in a Mom approved Easter Basket? I’m adding small play dough buckets, colored pencils, crayons, and a new coloring book. For the girls, I may get a pretty new Easter dress, and little boys always love new cars or tools. At least, my little boy does.
